Proper Connection of Peripheral Devices

All peripheral devices must connect to the computer's data bus through an input/output port on the system unit. Peripherals connect via cables plugged into ports on the back of the system unit, allowing communication between the peripheral and components like the processor and RAM. Proper connection of common peripherals like mice, keyboards, monitors, and speakers involves plugging their cables into specific ports on the back of the computer's system unit.

PROPER CONNECTION OF PERIPHERAL DEVICES

All peripherals must have some way to access the data bus of the
computer ( the communication channel on the motherboard that connects the
processor, RAM, and other components).
In order to do this, peripherals are connected via some kind of PORT also
called a I/O port(for input/output) on the System Unit ,a cable with the proper
connectors is needed.
Shown below is a picture of the back of your system unit with the
different ports/slots where peripheral devices are to be attached.

There are lots of external devices that you can connect to your
computer. All external devices must be connected to the computers system
unit via cable and ports. A port is the slot into which you plug a cable. Unless
youre using portable computer already, including a mouse, keyboard, monitor,
microphone, speakers, which are shown below. This is how the computer unit
will look like after connecting all peripheral devices.
