Elite Police Training School was established in 1997 at Bedian Road, Lahore
to accomplish the objective of nurturing the recently employed policemen
into well disciplined force with special emphasis on innovative training and
excellence in their skills. It is a unique institution in the country. Police and
other departments from all over the country feel honoured to be trained
here.
Elite police are the highly trained special force that assists district police in
situations that need expertise with high-risk searches, raids and rescue
operations. The officers in the Elite police are trained to a high degree of skill
in use of firearms, personal combat, and reconnaissance missions. They are
trained at a modern facility, the Elite Police Training School on Baidian Road,
Lahore.
In view of the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, a need was felt
to train and raise a special combat outfit within in Punjab Police. This outfit
was to be called the EPF and deployed to operate in anti terrorist and antidacoits role, peculiar to Punjab Province.
After completion of a successful training syllabus the trained force moves to
its area of responsibility in a particular Range or district. However, it is of
utmost importance that the detailed Instructions / drills and procedures are
known to senior police officers of that area in order to accrue the maximal
benefit from the use of the Force.
The Elite Police Force was to be trained in anti terrorist and anti dacoits
operations on modern lines. They were to be provided all the practical
training possible for operations in urban and rural areas of Punjab.
History
In view of increasing violence such as Terrorism, Sectarian Killing, Kidnapping
for Ransom, Hijacking, Sabotage and Robbery, it was decided in 1997 by
Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Honourable Chief Minister, Punjab to
combat modern organized violent crimes. For this very purpose Elite Police
Training School was established in 1997 by addition of Chapter - XIX A in
Police Rules 1934. Under the command of a serving Lieutenant Colonel Tariq
Ehtisham of Special Service Group (SSG), Pakistan Army. Basic Elite Courses,
Advanced Instructors Courses and VVIP Protection Courses were organized.
So far, 13 batches of Basic Elite Course have been passed out in which 8046
have been qualified whereas, the Elite Police Training School has the honour
to impart training to the Officers and Men of other Provinces, Law
Enforcement Agencies and Departments like Khyber P.K Police, Balochistan
Police, Capital Police Islamabad, Pakistan Rangers, Pakistan Prisons
Department, Traffic Wardens, Rescue - 1122 Punjab, District Management
Group, Pakistan Railways Police, Private Security Agencies, and Bank
Securities.
Its companies were named after the luminaries of Muslim military history i.e.,
Khalid, Hamza and Umer.The EPTS are very proud of hundreds of its
graduates who gallantly perform their chartered duties. Amongst them are
recipients of innumerable bravery awards. Its alumni have vindicated
themselves at every moment of trial. Over the years, there has been colossal
contribution towards improvement of the campus and enrichment of its
curriculum. Presently, its facilities and curriculum full cater for all challenges
and needs for the foreseeable future. Over the years, Elite Police Force has
evolved an indigenous system of training, based on the role of Elite Police.

knowledge to enable them to tackle appropriate tactical subjects.
To inculcate maturity of outlook, liberal attitude in order to make them
a team member through comradeship.
To generate sense of discipline and duty and is firm in enforcing orders
under all circumstances.

justice.

To impart training basing on threat assessment and foster progression
towards mission oriented training. The skills professed should epitomize
standards of professional efficiency by emphasizing on developing religious
& moral values, esprit de corps, self reliance, aggressive spirit and self
discipline.

sports exist i.e. volleyball, football, rugby, cricket, martial arts and tug of war.
Endurance
Endurance is one of the higher virtues of an effective force member. Regular
stamina and endurance building exercises are conducted to develop physical
hardihood, determination and willpower which include, Daily 2 Mile Run,
weekly 4 mile run and 12 Mile Race.
Agile Minds
Trainees as athletes must become proficient in a host of individual skills. A
course of numerous Physical Training Tests develops their body fitness and
promotes their agility. They have to engage in frequent tough conditioning
exercises in order to qualify EPTS physical fitness tests. This fitness acquired
over long period of strenuous training stays with them as a life-time asset.
Grit
Physical training events not merely physically harden the trainees, but they
also develop in them enormous grit. Events like boxing or assault course
which are compulsory physical training tests cannot be legitimately
completed unless the young athletes muster bold initiatives and physical
courage.

INTRODUTION
The Elite Punjab Police (Urdu: ) , also known as the "Elite Force" or
"Police Commandos"is a branch of the Punjab Police specializing in CounterTerrorist operations and VIP security duties, as well as acting against serious
crime and performing high-risk operations which can't be carried out by the
regular police. It was formed in 1998 as a counterterrorism unit, but over
time its duties expanded to VIP escort.
HISTORY
The Elite Force was created on the order of the then Punjab Chief Minister
Shabaz Sarhif in 19971998.In 2004, more funds were allocated for its
expansion, and 5000 new personnel were inducted. New checkpoints for
curbing street crime were created across Punjab and manned by the Elite
Force.[5] Their work drew attention in the wake of the 2009 attack on the Sri
Lankan cricket team in Lahore. The Elite Police were also extensively
involved in neutralizing enemy combatants who had laid siege to the
Manawan Police Training School during the 2009 Lahore police academy
attacks
Mumtaz Qadri, the bodyguard who shot and killed Punjab governor Salmaan
Taseer in Islamabad on January 4, 2011 was a member of the Elite Police.
ORGNIZTION
