Big Data Scope and Challenges

This document discusses big data, including its scope and challenges. It defines big data as large volumes of structured and unstructured data from sources like mobile devices, the internet, and sensors. The scope of big data is wide, with potential applications in customer understanding, business optimization, health, science, and more. Some key challenges of big data include securing distributed systems, privacy-preserving analytics at scale, and access control for non-relational data stores. Traditional data processing is no longer sufficient, and security best practices must adapt to new big data technologies and use cases.

Big data is Current trend and new curve for IT today . Big data is driven data with high
velocity, volume, variety, veracity and value. It come s from different foundations like mobile
devices, internet, social media, sensors, geospatial devices and other machine - generated data.
Traditional data processing and analysis of structured
structured data using RDBMS and data warehousing no
longer satisfy the challenges of Big Data. Here we discussed some challenges and application of Big
Data.
Keywords: Big data, Mining
I.
INTRODUCATION
Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data both structured and unstructured that
inundates a business on a day-to-day
day basis. But its not the amount of data thats important. Its what
organizations do with the data that matters. Big data can be analyzed for insights that lead to better
decisions and strategic business moves.[1,2]
moves.
Its the logical combination of three of the hottest trends of the last few years in analytics: Big Data,
Data Discovery, and Data Science.

II.
BIG DATA SCOPE
Scope of big data is very wide. It cover following major areas.[3]
Understanding and Targeting Customers
Understanding and Optimizing Business Processes
Personal Quantification and Performance Optimization
Improving Healthcare and Public Health
Improving Sports Performance
Improving Science and Research
Optimizing Machine and Device Performance
Improving Security and Law Enforcement.
Improving and Optimizing Cities and Countries

CHALLENGES FOR BIG DATA

As big data wends its inextricable way into the enterprise, information technology (IT) practitioners
and business sponsors alike will bump up against a number of challenges that must be addressed
before any big data program can be successful. Five of those challenges are[4]
are[4]:
1. Secure
ecure computations in distributed programming frameworks
2. Security best practices for non-relational
non
data stores
3. Secure data storage and transactions logs
4. End-point
point input validation/filtering
5. Real-Time
Time Security Monitoring
6. Scalable and composable privacy-preserving
privacy preserving data mining and analytics
7. Cryptographically enforced data centric security
8. Granular access control
9. Granular audits
10. Data Provenance The Expanded Top 10 Big Data challenges has evolved from the initial list
of challenges
hallenges presented at CSA Congress to an expanded version that addresses
addr
three new
distinct issues.
IV.
CONCLUSION
Big data is also useful for managing and storing of business data in the structural way. With the help
of big data government can improve their potentiality in the development of nation. Big data can
improve the capacity of storage where data may not needed in structure way. Big data technology
can also be used to improve the communication system over mobile and internet.
