What is perception?
Different people often see the same phenomenon differently.
Perception is the source of ones knowledge of the world. One
wants to know the world and the surrounding environment.
Knowledge is power. Without knowledge one cannot act
effectively. Perception is the main source of such knowledge.
Perception can be defined as the process of selecting, receiving,
organizing, interpreting, checking, and reacting to sensory stimuli
and data. This definition contains several aspects or processes of
perception.

Internal throughput factors

1. Motivation:
Motivation as general term means an individuals
involvement in work. In specific sense it means a
particular motivation. The second concept of motivation
is an explanation of the general term work motivation.
An individual has either high or low motivation or has
one or another kind of motivation. Why do some people
have a higher motivation for work?
2.
few words of motivation will make your life worth living.
you always should have best motivator in your life.

Experience:
Experience prepares a person to look at people,
objects, and phenomenon similar to his or her earlier
personal experiences. A person who has bad
experience while working with certain type of people
may select these people for a particular kind of

past experiances teaches you a lot. one must have to learn from past & in order to live happy

perception.

3. Personality:

Personality also influences perception.an introvert may

be attracted to people either similar to or quite
dissimilar to him or her. General attitude and beliefs
also influences perception.
4. Learnings:
Nobody learns everything by birth. First, our school is

whenever yoy are in dilemma the learnings from the past experiences helps you percieve in a

our home, then our society, followed by educational

institutes. The characteristics an individual acquires by
observing, practicing, and learning from others and the
surroundings is known as learned characteristics.

External throughput factors

1. Intensity:
Generally stimuli which are higher in intensity are
perceived more rapidly than those which are low in
intensity. Advertisements make use of this factor.

2. Size:

the more intense the factor is it has more impact on perception

Larger objects attracts more attention because they are

perceived faster. Many companies make use of this
factor by packaging products to make them look larger.
3. Repetition:
the bigger size of eiffel tower make a perception that it is following rani everywhere.

Usually things which are repetitive attracts more

attention. Repetition catches attention only as long as it
is use prudently.

the more the factors or situations get repeated the more impact it creates on perception

4. Familiarity:
Things which are familiar attracts more attention,
particularly when they are not expected in a particular
context. In an organization people notice those from
same background more as well as pay more attention
to them than people from different background.

the more familiar or comfortable the situation is the easier it is to percieve.

5. Status:
Generally, all social systems are conceived as
stratification systems based on the division of labor and
differential social characteristics. Stratification is an
ordering of people on some esteemed, desirable
characteristic and a person's position in this ordering is
his status. Contemporary sociologists consider the
major status characteristics of societies as wealth (or
privilege), power, and prestige; a person's wealth,
power, and prestige comprise his statuses, and in
combination they measure his total status-his rank-in

people are more concerned about status and image in front of others they judge people on th

society.

Personality & perception

Perception and personality affect how people relate to each
other and their work. Managers will learn how selective attention,
stereotypes, and other attitudinal distortions are formed and may
contribute to group dynamics, interpersonal conflict and inequity
in the workplace. Understanding the fundamentals of social
identity theory, perception and personality can assist managers in
managing and maximizing diversity, coaching employees and
teams, and reducing stress in the workplace.

Behavior & perception

Perception is always a part of behavior, and behavior is a
special kind of body process. When these connections are missed,
then studies of behavior seem to form one field, and physiology
another. Strength, for example, is a power, as are intelligence,
perceptual speed, figural fluency, and so on. The will creates a
readiness to behave but not actual behavior, for a person may be
blocked by external barriers. Thus, our will can bring us to the
point of leaving a room, but a locked door may prevent this.

Why & how people need to impress others

1. Normal human relations are based on emotions like love,

fear, care, concern, anger, hatred etc.
2. Depending on the type of emotion which forms the basis
of relation, there are different bonds established.
3. The need to impress the other person lies in superficial
relations, mostly professional or semiprofessional or just
social contacts.
4. Because in a relation where you are most comfortable or
even mildly comfortable, the need of impressing would
cease.
5. The very need to impress someone arises from the desire
to show something about yourself that may or may not
exist that according to you will make the other person
think of you highly.
