THEY say that nothing beats experience, as my professor would say, as the perfect learning tool.

For some students, on-the-job training gives

them a taste of the real worlda glimpse of what lies ahead after they graduate.
These students share what they learned from their on-the-job training experiences, from a few tricks of the trade and bittersweet lessons, to the
life principles they can live by.
One of the most important things Ive learned is that talent alone is not enough. It is important, but it is no guarantee of success. One must also
be hardworking and should practice self-discipline. Sacrifice is important, too.

memorable experiences. One is traveling. In my line of work, I usually travel to different countries for inspiration or ideas for new designs. I
attend different kinds of training and meetings with clients and investors.
I learned to sacrifice a lot of things; I hardly have time for anything else. Even on weekends, Im in the office. Start with what you know, and
remove the unknown. Simply put, begin at the beginning and then work on how to solve the problems one at a time.Karla Motol, 21,
Multimedia Arts, Asia Pacific College
I learned its best to do and show your best. Ask your boss if they have some work for you to do. You never know; they might hire you after the
internship or in the future. I think studying is harder than working, though; the real world is easier than college.Karen Edina O. Espiritu, 20,
Advertising Arts, Far Eastern University
Being diplomatic
I learned through experience how to interact and communicate with people. Knowing how to handle and tackle different issues and still be
diplomatic in both action and words is important. The whole experience of going to another country and facing issues that need to be addressed
was quite memorable. Also, I was able to get a glimpse of how the United Nations works when I met new people during the trip.
It will be so exciting in the real world, being independent and figuring things out on your own. This also means having to deal with different
people more often, so it is really good to know what youre doing, and to love it. All we can do as students is to learn whatever we can in school,
be inspired, love the path we take, and finally do our best in everything we do, with a positive outlook in mind. Randy Ailemi Valdez, 19,
International Studies under the track of International Politics, with a Minor of Peace Studies, Miriam College

THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE OJT EXPERIENCE..

During my On the Job Training I learned a lot. I learned how to communicate and understand well what is customer service specially in food and
beverage department. I have many chances of applying all I've learn in my alma matter, Bulacan State University. I became more responsible
about regulations and follow every standard they have. I reminded my self that I'm not here to be lazy, but I'm here to prove my self I have an
edge in this industry. I have realized that being punctual is more important than being industrious. For showing that you have that eagerness in the
job your in, is being like you owned it.
I have been a food attendant in both Hotels I've been into, The CAVA Bar and Restaurant and The Escolta. Waking up early is just so hard to do,
changing schedules from am shift to pm shift too. I learned to boost my confidence and pay attention to attend guest needs. For they are the
reason why a hotel is operating.

your experiences with the people you worked with.

In the beginning, working with people you have just first met is something different and something that is hard inside. Hard inside that you can't
say anything or do anything that you are usually saying cause the near fact the you might offend them or they may think your rude. On my
experience I have became an observant and a listener to the people I worked with. As days goes on, friendship and understanding with each other
is built. I have worked with different people with different kinds of attitude and behavior. One of the most kind I encounter is those who are jolly
and friendly. They are the ones that will help you give your who you are. They will ask you many questions - personal, biodata, past experiences
and they will also share some of theirs. As a trainee you will never avoid those who are strict and what they popularly called kill joys. Sometimes
you may handle them but sometimes you'll just want to avoid them. They are those co-workers that is more of standard operations. But though
they are like that I assure you'll learn more from them.

UPITTC is a big help to us OJT's, because of them we've learned a lot of things not only in software but also in hardware(technical support). I
enjoyed my OJT in UPITTC, because all our supervisors are kind, they are patient, mapagbiro, but one thing is for sure they are the best
supervisors that we've met and "nksama" for almost four months, they trained us to provide the essential skills that we need to perform our job in
the future. Thanks a lot to our supervisors because of them I've learned a lot.
I experienced a lot of things in my OJT such as being an independent, being responsible to do our task that our supervisors give to us, to be
able to learned and gain new things and new knowledge, to be able to mingle and know more about our supervisors, and to be able to improve
my skills
On-the-job training (OJT) is one of the best training methods because it is planned, organized, and conducted at the employee's worksite. OJT
will generally help the students to increase their productivity and skills. It also help the students to become a young professional. This is one
method by which students is given a chance to apply the theories and computations that they have learned from the school. It also helps the
students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require their students to undergo
such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. December 10, 2012 when I started my OJT and its been more than 500
hours I spend inside the On the Job Training in the Nasugbu Municipal Hall, specifically in Fire Department. I always came to office at around
7:30 am. Yes, 30 minutes earlier than the usual office time. I logged in early and cleaned the office for not more than 15 minutes every day. I
organized and sorted out their files, photocopy and printed out important documents, download attachments from email, and send reports and
different attachments to the higher office thru email. I also recorded business, electrical, occupancy permits for the clients, encode multiple files,
provide order of payment, and assists the Fire Code Fee Assessor. I really enjoyed my on-the-job training at the Fire Department. I learned the
basic office works, the operation of common office equipment and facilities, the standard office rules and procedures and most of all the pleasant
officers-employees relationships. Even if its not related in my course, I really appreciated the effort that they accepted me and considered me as
their co- employee. There are lots of things that I can say that Ill never forget, from the day I walk in the Fire Department to the time I walked
out of the building. I met people who I enjoyed being with through their jokes, trips and even their smiles. What I learned in my workplace is
being hard working, even though its tiring. And keeping a smile on your face brings you warm-heart welcome as they smile back. All the good
experiences, knowledge, skills and camaraderies I acquired during my OJT at Nasugbu Municipal Fire Department will be most cherished. I
would like to extend my utmost gratitude to the people who played important role in the completion of my training. For the warm welcome, with
due respect, I am appreciative to Sr. Insp. Marilyn C Calapati. Thank you for your accommodation. I am very much grateful to FO1 Ana Marie
Alix, the Fire Code Fee Assessor and also my sister who always there for me and always guiding me, FO2 Nomie Arellano, FO3 Zenon Bacit,
FO1 Albert Bentir, FO1 Roberto Borja, FO2 Geronimo Dimailig, FO1 Enrico Lapitan, FO1 Rhesty Lingao, FO3 Jose Jovener Perez, and FO3
Romeo Ramos for the patience in guiding and teaching me. I am happy, grateful and fortunate that I was able to experience and learned a lot of
things. Thank you for all your efforts.

My OJT Narrative Report

On-the-job training (OJT) is one of the best training methods because it is planned, organized, and conducted at the employee's worksite. OJT
will generally be the primary method used for broadening employee skills and increasing productivity. It is particularly appropriate for
developing proficiency skills unique to an employee's job - especially jobs that are relatively easy to learn and require locally-owned equipment
and facilities. This is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the theories and computations that they have learned from the
school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require
their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum.

My classmates Chriszel Joy Magsambol, Jasmin Santillan, Kristina Tamio, Jan Elvin Villarubia and I were oriented by Maam Etzie the Human
Resource Assistant last February 21, 2011. She gave us the map of Bangko Mabuhay, the attendance report where we are going to log in and out,
the date we are going to start the training, and the department where we were assigned. She explained to us the rules and regulation for the
trainees such as to always follow the instructions of the superiors, the type of clothes to wear and the different facilities that can be used by the
trainees.

March 23, 2011 - Wednesday, was my first day as a trainee. On the way to the bank at Tanza, Cavite, I was very nervous. Although I knew where
I will be assigned and the name of my immediate superior, I still do not have the idea how she looks like, her attitude and the duties that I will do
with her.

I arrived early and I saw my classmates at the back of the bank where the employees enter. We logged our time- in outside the Human Resource
Department and went to our designated department. Chriszel was assigned at the Information Technology Department but was later transferred to
the Microfinance Department; Jasmine was assigned at the Loans Department; Kristina was assigned at the Human Resource Department; Elvin
was assigned at the Customer Service; and I was assigned at the Executive Office with Maam Maranatha Mara Bunda, the executive secretary.

Second Month of OJT

My 2nd month of OJT. My workflow is the same as my first month of stay in this office. But at this time I can say that I am more familliar to my
duties and at the same time less supervion is given to me. I can now work farter than before, I am no longer hesitant to do all the assigned work
because I'm already used to it.
During this month, I have experience the strike of "habagat" here in manila. Flood all over the are, and because of this most of the employees of
Travel Saver are absent, so I was assigned to help in their reservation department. Another first time experience. I'm amazed how the reseravtion
officers manage to answer all those calls and still they do some paper works and assist passengers. At first I am reluctant to answer the phone
because I'm afraid I might give them the wrong information and this may cause the company a bad name to their passengers. With proper
teaching from the employees, I was able to help them and also I'm enjoying this work.
Because of the flood their system they are using is not working, so they need to prepare all the documents manually and I have observe that it is
time consuming. The use of hightech system greatly affect their nature of work.
OJT or On-Job-Training is the activity of the students where in they are trained or prepared to a certain job or career. It is also a requirement of a
course before graduation. The students are assigned in different branches of government of private offices wherein they are assigned or perform
their work to prepare and exposed themselves to a chosen career.
I have my OJT in DAR or Department of Agrarian Reform located at Amado Lim Bldg., Roxas Avenue, Roxas City. At first I feel so
nervous and excited as well,it was hard for me to interact with them, come to think of it, they were professionals and Im just a student trainee. I
just trained myself to act like a professional like them so that it will be easy for me to work with them. As time goes by, i found myself working
harmoniously with them, the employees there was so nice and good to me and they treat each other as a family.
In my first day of my OJT, I feel so nervous as I enter the office, the OIC of the Operation Division orient me their rules and
regulations and their dress code as well, she also assigned me to assist Maam Leah Ubierna and Maam Luisa Bofill. I have experience new
environment, new acquaintances who are professionals and every task that given to me. The most unforgettable and the hardest thing ive
experienced is when Maam Leah ask me to segregate those past documents (Lot Data Computation) by municipalities then after it Ill segregate
it by barangays, do you know whats the hardest part of it? It is when I list down all the Lot Data Computation of each barangay in every
municipalities here in the province of Capiz, imagined it theres a lot of barangays and municipality here in the province of capiz, do you think
you can do it alone? whoosh.. It was my first time but Thanks to GOD he gave me enough strength finish my task. Through this experience i
learned a lot,i learn to be more patient in every task that given to me even though it is hard and you dont like it. I also experience how to operate
a Xerox copier at first i dont know how to use it but hen one of the employees taught me how to operate it, i have fun on it after all.

I also exeprience to answer their phone calls, the funny thing with that is every time i answer the phone, the caller will look one of the employee,
then Ill just shout their names, then who ever came in the table to get the phone, Ill just remembering their faces then listed and memorize their
names so that next time i already know them, funny to think but i learn a lot.

I learn a lot of things in my OJT, some of it I adopt and apply to myself and some of it helps develop my skills and enhance my
knowledge. I was so thankful that I have my OJT in this office. I learn to be more patient in every task that given to me, to be nice and humble in
every person I interact and most of all to LOVE MY WORK.
