This way or other you can imagine the engineers work at this small successful company situated in
the Westfalian Werther in Germany. With GAE its the interaction of the tiny details that creates
innovations.
Since 25 years GAE has been one of the biggest participants/competitors in the acoustic branch,
allowing itself only one piece of luxury: a character of its own. This is reflected as well in the
products and the great variety of projects maintained in Germany an abroad as in the quantity of
professional event-services that make use of GAE-products.
There is only one thing more important than sound pressure: control. Thats why the electronic
components as well as the performed enclosures and drivers are applicable to extreme conditions
und promise unlimited usability.
With GAE innovations start in the brain then going ahead to perfection. There are speakers mirroring
our times and there are ones being ideal visions. The GAE Director System (with so called
TwinCoaxPointSource Technology) for instance does not reflect modern times but represents a
paradigm big speaker-builders model on.
In future this company not only wants to accomplish the present but to make visions come true. It
actually is being worked on new systems which -again by the interaction of details- will become
innovations!
Being in the top ranking concerning performance and quality of the GAE-range WaveLine
loudspeakers convince outstandingly and define new benchmarks in the field of sound engineering.
An extensive bandwidth of scaling, highly efficient applications and a remarkably simple operability
allow a multitude of challenging sound engineering solutions.

and tonal experience.
DIRECTOR TOP
GAE Director Top is a 2-way-active, 60 x 40 twin-coaxial high Q
loudspeaker system comprising two specially constructed 12 cone
drivers with 4 voice coil diameter, 220mm ceramic magnets and a
1,4 Neodymium-compression driver with 3 titan membrane in a
horn loading.
The mid horns mouth spans the whole front side. Two phase plugs which are installed in front of the
mid tone drivers ensure an optimal compression rate.
To avoid interfering reflections the form of the phase plugs has been optimised in a way that
together with the high frequency horn they build a homogeneous unity. This way sound parts which
are deflected at the edge of the HF-horn are kept from colliding with the middle horn thereby
creating interferences. The hemispheric ends of the phase plugs barricade the way of misguided
reflections which leads to an early and diffuse diversion without negative consequences for the
frequency- and impulse response. Due to this elaborate mechanical construction an outstanding
frequency response of the mid- and high-tone bandwidth is achieved. The interaction of the different
construction parts produces a perfectly symmetrical directivity. Additionally the HF-driver is
electronically protected against DC and acoustical pressure load.
The components are protected by a stable front grill which is backed with acoustic foam.
All these constructive and technical details add up to an extraordinary size/power proportion.
Characteristics:
- unique TwinCoax-technology
- outstanding symmetrical-horn-dispersion in horizontal and vertical direction
- perfect acoustic coupling between MF- and HF-driver
- excellent audibility
- high power output > 138dB (1m)
- compact enclosure design

- maximum flexibility for installation and touring purposes
- besides live application excellently suitable for theatres, clubs and city halls
DIRECTOR TOP
DIRECTOR BASS
In its appearance and its function the GAE Director Bass is
optimally matched to the GAE Director Top and forms the third way
in the Director full-range system. The high-power loudspeaker
system incorporates two special front loaded, high excursion 18
drivers. The unique and extremely optimised enclosure design offers
a 90% utilization of the loudspeakers front as emitter consisting
of loudspeaker membrane and resonators vent. The ventilation
channels have been arranged in a way that allows them to stiffen
the enclosure and at the same time cool the drivers magnets. The
Director Bass constructive design has been optimised for the
greatest acoustic power achievable being simultaneously compatible
to the enclosure.
Six handle recesses, 100mm blue wheels on the rear side and the
roundabout successful mechanical realization allow the application
for every installation and the hard touring routine.
Characteristics:
DIRECTOR BASS-S
In its basic form the Director Bass-S is matched to the Director Top
and Bass, forming a modular and extremely flexible completion to
the Director Series. The enclosure is of very elaborate dimensions,
thus two Single-Basses put on top of each other offer an optimal
working height for the top-unit for lots of applications. In
comparison with the Director Bass the Single Bass offers a lower
tuning frequency achieved by an increased enclosure volume and
thus obtains an even lower sub-low-fundament. The Director Bass-S
in combination with the Director Bass then at a nominal
impedance of round about 2ohms allows a state-of-the-art
amplifier to proof its capability.
When Director Top elements are flown and remote Director Bass systems are used for ground
stacking an outstanding acoustic connection of all parts can be achieved by flown Single Basses.
The vented Director Single Bass offers a perfect exploitation of the mechanical and thermal
characteristics of the 18 long excursion cone driver.
The very compact enclosure design, six integrated carrying recesses, 100mm blue wheels on the
rear side, a threaded flange mounted on the top and the overall felicitous mechanical quality allow
the application for every sort of installation and the hard daily touring routine.

ETAMAX
State-of-the-art simulation programs and elaborated
enclosures are the basis for the optimized horn contour and
its folding. By the help of the backwards enclosure-
chamber the parameters of the 18 driver are exactly
adjusted to the acoustic situation of the pressure chamber
and the sound conduction. The acoustical resistance thus
obtained damps the driver optimally and produces a
frequency specter largely expanded to the low specter
without bothersome resonances.
The toll taken by these special ETAMAX construction-characteristics rests with its dimensions, but
the ingenious positioning of the 10 handholds simplifies the handling. Aluminum fixing bolts in the
top and the bottom of the enclosure close to its back guarantee a save stacking. The enclosure is
sumptuously built of high quality multi-layered birch-ply and sealed with a black structure varnish by
standard. Different RAL colours are available. The loudspeakers baffle and its components are
protected by a solid metal front grill which is backed with an opaque acoustic foam.

Zoom 12
Laid-out as low-profile-enclosure the Zoom 12 impresses with optic
elegance and extreme potential: curved lines dominate and are carried
forward even to the handholds, high performance Neodymium-
loudspeakers containing 4 voice coils provide boundless acoustic power.
The uncompromising active control is brought to perfection by a detailed
tuning of the parameters.
The dispersion properties of the Zoom 12 are geared to praxis. A special horn contour achieves a
clearly defined listening range, beyond this focus the acoustic pressure declines evenly. Extreme
sound level reserves are gained by the application of 4 voice coils in the low and high frequency
range, breaking way to the highest performance. Especially strong Neodymium magnets and
optimized controller parameters for an ideal adjustment of the loudspeakers provide for an excellent
dynamic. The construction specialties of the 12 chassis allow a simple equalization.
The extremely small enclosure is easy to be carried and impresses by a high stability providing the
well-known GAE-enclosure qualities. The monitor is offered optionally as right or left version which
enables a symmetrical positioning. Threaded flanges offer horizontal mounting by using an optional
yoke.

Glossary
WARRANTY / QC
GAE offers on all systems (excluding electronics and typical wear parts) an extended warranty. You
can be sure that before and after its installation each particular component has been thoroughly
tested. GAEs quality standards are that strict that only especially chosen suppliers are able to meet
them. Before leaving the production each product is tested on technical faults individually. Please
refer to your distributors appointments regarding warranty on GAE products.
SOLIDBOX-DESIGN
With GAE all enclosures are built and developed according to state-of the-art mechanical criteria.
This piece of masterwork recompenses its owner by an extremely long life-cycle. Only high quality
birch multiplex with a high complexity is used, as each single layer is turned by 90 an outstanding
stiffness is guaranteed. Even the material thickness is matched to the loudspeakers requirements
layers of 15 36mm thickness are employed. All baffles are additionally attached to the enclosure
by a special groove/feather construction.
offers a supreme degree of efficiency, an optimal overlap of the frequencies and a time correction.
This way an enormous frequency response at alert-levels and a high degree of freedom for the tonal
adjustment of the whole system is ensured.
SR-PROTECTION
Each GAE crossover network is optimized for the driver employed and offers a high power handling
capacity. The HF driver is protected by a maintenance free overloading-limiter (after being activated
it returns to normal on its own) which guarantees a high operational safety.
Each mounting of a vertical yoke follows the principle: metal to metal. The threads employed are
constructed in a way that allows the yoke to be attached to a metal part connected with the thread.
There are no metal/wood contacts otherwise this would mean a loss in stability with the time of
usage.
TWIN COAX
The outstandingly compact high tone driver allows an extremely tight installation of the
loudspeakers chassis. Thereby the 12 horn drivers are mounted as close as possible above each
other whereas the compact horn/driver combination is located in the middle and directly in front of
the drivers. Only by this grouping real spot-acoustic-source is enabled.
16 OHMS
An input impedance of 16ohms allows the application of several systems to one amplifiers channel
without damaging the amplifier. For an easy parallel connection according to the Daisy-Chain-
Principle the loudspeaker system offers connectors of the Neutrik NL4 Speakon type.
A special construction of the carrying recesses guarantees the draining of accidentally poured
rainwater no matter whether the systems are used standing or lying.
OUTER FRAME
If two loudspeaker systems are flown beneath each other, the integrated lifting studs are extremely
stressed. Commonly drive-in nuts are integrated into the enclosure, which then (together with the
top respectively the bottom) have to carry the whole weight of the construction. Using such a
construction very often means to leave legal ways, disregarding security-concerns. GAE offers the
so-called Outer Frame Construction: the fittings lie above the enclosures like a frame , carrying the
weight of the loudspeaker installed below.
MAX.AB
The optimised enclosure design offers a 90% utilization of the loudspeakers front as emitter
consisting of loudspeaker membrane and resonators vent. The ventilation channels have been
arranged in a way that allows them to stiffen the enclosure and at the same time cool the drivers
magnets.
Both driver chassis are symmetrically enclosed by a novel ventilation channel and the side walls and
thereby symmetrically loaded. Because of this construction swaying movements of the membrane
are reduced to a minimum whereas the output power is raised to a maximum. The huge ventilation
channel ensures an excellent bass reflex effectiveness without compression effects and at the same
time compounds the baffles static.
FLEXIBLE STACKING
The GAE BR systems are outfitted with different footprints, which allow a flexible mounting of
several full-range/subwoofer loudspeakers.
