SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Online Submission
Once you have completed your mock exam you should submit your answers to RRC via the RRC Learning Centre, where it
will automatically be sent to your tutor for marking. To submit your mock exam:
Log on to the Learning Centre with the username and password you have been assigned.
From your Learning Centre Home page, select the relevant unit, then click on the Submit Mock Exam link.
Click the Add Submission option.
Drag and drop your completed mock exam into the space provided and click Save Changes to upload it (alternatively,
use the Add button to locate and attach your file). You can add comments at this stage; make sure that you clearly
state which mock exam you are completing by quoting the mock exam code given overleaf, along with your student
reference number and the name and date of your examination (if you are taking an exam), and a message for your tutor
if required.
Finally, click on the Submit Assignment button and your mock exam will be sent to your tutor for marking.
You should keep a copy of your completed mock exam in case of loss.
Postal Submission
You can post your answers to RRC for marking in the following way:
Clearly print your full student reference number (which consists of one letter and five numbers), your name, the date,
the full code of the mock exam (as shown overleaf), and the name and date of your examination (if you are taking an
exam), at the top of your first sheet.
Write your name and full postal address in the centre of the back of the last page of your completed mock exam.
Fill in the Submission Docket overleaf and staple it to the front of your mock exam.
You should keep a copy of your completed mock exam in case of loss.

Safety Management Team is analysing past incidents and database records from the Oil and Gas industry.
Excluding active and passive fire protection systems, outline physical design features of the platform that
would minimise risk to operating personnel in the event of a major incident. (8)
9. (a) Identify TWO ways in which vapour clouds can be generated. (2)
(b) Outline how a vapour cloud explosion can be generated. (4)
(c) Identify the physical consequences of vapour cloud explosions. (2)
10. An operator is draining a flammable liquid from process pipework to a metal container. The supervisor
is concerned about the possibility of an electrostatic charge forming and stops this operation until a risk
assessment is undertaken. During this work activity:
(a) identify factors that influence the generation of the electrostatic charge; (4)
(b) outline practical ways of minimising the formation of an electrostatic charge. (4)
11. An employee was seriously injured in an accident at work within an oil and gas installation.
