Introduction
This document defines the mechanism to force USB-Link firmware update without the
usual version checks. The driver for this support is providing end users the ability to roll
back USB-Link firmware in the field, typically as a debugging tool.

Implementation
The USB-Link installation includes the utility binload.exe in \nexiq\Test\ path.

In the event a user has a need to update the USB-Link firmware file to an older version
than that currently installed, the following sequence is performed:

Back up USB-Link firmware file, usblink.bin, residing in \NEXIQ\RP1210A\

path

Copy replacement usblink.bin file to \NEXIQ\RP1210A\ path. This file will

typically be provided through Snap-on tech support or engineering contact.

In \nexiq\Test\, open binload.exe

Select radio button indicating USB-Link installation type, not operating

system. For example, for x86 USB-Link installation on 64-bit Windows 7, you
would select 32-bit.

Click Enable automatic USB-Link firmware update checkbox. Box should

now be checked

Click OK to exit

Open an RP1210 connection. On doing so, the USB-Link drivers will

automatically prompt user to proceed with firmware update.

Once firmware update has been completed, re-open binload.exe and set
Enable automatic USB-Link firmware update to unchecked, then click OK to exit.
This will prevent automatic firmware update sequence in subsequent connections.
