Neighbours in QGIS

This document provides instructions for adding and deleting neighbors from a cell database: 1. Add parent cell and neighbor columns to the cell database table. 2. Open the attribute table and search for a cell ID to view its 11 neighbors on the map. 3. Make the layer editable, identify features, and right click to edit neighbor lists by adding or deleting cell IDs while maintaining symmetry between neighbor definitions.

Add Parent cell and neighbor column in cell

database as shown, separating neighbors


with comma.
Open attribute table
Enter cell id of the cell under analysis in
look for space and select neighbors
column, press search
11 neighbors found in this example, now
press zoom map to selected rows to view
them on map

Before starting neighbor addition
deletion, make the layer editable
Click identify feature, right click to
edit feature form
Here neighbors can be added and
deleted using their respective cell id
Something to take care of

The change in neighbor definitions is seen as soon and changes are made,
Delete or add neighbors on both cells, incoming and outgoing, to maintain neighbor symmetry.
For example , if cell A is defined neighbor of cell B and is deleted from cell Bs neighbor
List then cell B will not get deleted from cell As neighbor list, it has to be deleted from
both neighbor lists , cross verify symmetry before saving the file in the end of editing
