1970/Leningrad/USSR
G. Maiofis was born in the family of artists and architects;
1987-1989 - studied at Repin State Academic Institute (of Russian Academy of Arts),
graphic art department;
1991- 1996 lived and worked in Los Angeles, USA;
2000 2001 created his first photographic series of works entitled Fables;
2003 created photographic series of works entitled Tarot decks
2004 - started to make classical black and white photography by himself, use old
shift-cameras and interested in old photographic processes and technologies: Van
Dyck, bromoil;
2005 2010 created photographic series of works entitled Proverbs, wined in
2006 year Betty and Jim Kasson Award from the Center for Photographic Art for the
Proverbs series California, USA;
2008, 2009 - Nominated for the Kandinsky Prize, Moscow, Russia;
2011 personal retrospective in Novy Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia
2014 upcoming personal exhibition in Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Santa
Barbara, California, USA / catalogue will be printed by Nazraeli Press
