Introduction
Thanks for downloading the latest version of LCARS 47. This manual contains everything you
need to know to get started. Please note that the images in this document are for annotation
purposes only and may differ from the release version. The LCARS 47 team have put allot of
time and effort into the development of this program for a single reason, to share our love of
Star Trek and the LCARS system with other fans around the world. We hope you enjoy using
this program as much as we do.
Above the pane, the LCARS 47 button will take you to the LCARS 47 homepage where support
is available. The button to the right allows the LaunchCenter to be set to full screen. To exit full
screen, hit Escape.
The buttons to the top of the pane allow you to cycle between the configuration for each
application, view system information, access the comm system and exit the application.
The 'SYSTEM INFORMATION' button displays simple information regarding the LCARS Launch
centre and is intended for simple information purposes only.
The COMM button allows access to LCARS 47's inbuilt communications screen. This is simply a
screen allowing users to view videos regarding LCARS status updates and other relevant news.
Once the connection has been established (Internet connection required) click the 'EST LINK'
button to start the video. The 'SUSPEND' button will pause the video, to resume, press the 'EST
LINK' button again. 'TERMINATE LINK' will stop playback.
Main Window
Once started, the MCP will display a
welcome screen. Along the top, the
exit button will return you to the
main MCP screen, where you can
then exit the program using the
Close button in the right hand
bottom corner.
Champaign
The Champaign button allows
editing of the ship name and
registration number for the ship in
all LCARS 47 Platforms.
Mission Overview
Mission Overview allows
customization of the ship's current
assignment or mission. Subject
headers are in gold and editable
text can be changed by the user.
Mission Logs
Mission Logs is the section where
log entries can be made.
On the right hand side of the screen the prev and next buttons move through the list as
indicated, and the save button commits the changes made to the system.
Personnel Database
The Personnel DB button allows the
user to enter themselves into the
crew database. Name, Rank,
Identification (Serial Number),
Assignment, Date Of Birth, and
Species can all be edited. The
Biography can also be edited but in
the MCP there should not be any
new paragraphs made. After every
new line (Enter key press) Prolixus
will automatically display the data
as a new paragraph.
Voice Command
The VoiceCommand application
allows users to control LCARS 47
through the windows speech
recognition system. It contains the
same voice commands as previous
LCARS 47 releases.
Main Window
The main screen is styled like a Star Trek: Nemesis style door pad, and
activates and deactivates the voice command feature. Pressing the large
center button will act as a door chime. The 'ACTV' (activate) button just
underneath and to the left of the central button will start voice recognition
and display the 'DEAC' (deactivate) button which will stop voice
recognition. The 'INFO' button at the top displays a dialogue box detailing
simple information on the application.
The button on the bottom left will allow you to change the confidence
level needed for the program to execute a command. The higher the
level, the higher the confidence level needed. This is useful if you are in
a fairly noisy environment. The button on the bottom right will display the logger form.
Logger Form
There is a secondary screen
containing a log of commands
recently used. This is useful if there
are any problems with the program
recognizing the command. This
feature is hidden and you can
access this button by pressing the
bottom left button on the voice
command main screen. It will
display information regarding the programs confidence in the command it received.
If the confidence is below the preset level, the command will not be triggered. It is
recommended that you use the Windows Speech Recognition Voice Training to help the
computer recognize your voice more clearly. This will in turn help the system increase its
confidence in understanding the commands you issue.
Note: The VoiceCommand creates a log file when it is used, and this file can become very large
if you use the VoiceCommand application regularly. It is recommended to purge this file
periodically to avoid issues with space.
Voice Command
The VoiceCommand application supports Operating systems installed using the following
languages;
If you are not using one of these native languages (I.E. your operating system is not installed
using one of the languages above) the program may not work correctly, if at all.
To use the VoiceCommand application, you must speak the commands in English only
(regardless of the operating system language).
The following is a sample list of Commands available with LCARS 47 programs. Please note
this is a sample list and not all commands will be available. Also there are some unique Easter
eggs in the voice command list, so try experimenting.

(*) 'All Stations' applies to users running LCARs 47 and VoiceCommand in conjunction with the
'Mouse Without Borders' program. This program allows you to use LCARs 47 on multiple computers
over your personal network and control them with a single keyboard and mouse.
LCARS Vexillum
Starting Vexillum
1 3 Once started, Vexillum will display a
welcome screen. Here, you will see
basic system specifications
including the system build number.
4 2
From the welcome screen, you can
5 select the primary mode (1, 2, 3)
6 functions and select any of the three
main systems, the system access
directory (4), the command
7 system directory (5), the
engineering system panel (6), the
8 control panel (7), and the
deactivation key (8).
The primary mode controls allow for suspending the terminal, access to the system information
file, and displaying the welcome screen. Clicking on the time (3), will display the current local
time on screen. The lock (2) button will lock the terminal. Note, you will need the Level 1
Security Code to unlock the terminal (see Section: Command Codes)
LCARS Prolixus
App Version 6.3
Starting Prolixus
1
4
Upon starting Prolixus, youll see the LCARS welcome display, showing the title and build
number. Here, you can select the primary mode (1) as well as select any of the three main
systems, the primary system directory (2), the astrometrics system directory (3), and the
Federation database directory (4). The primary mode controls allow for locking of the terminal,
access to the settings panel, the system information file, terminal deactivation, and the option of
displaying the current local time on screen.
Alert Conditions
Within specific subsystems, you can select (right)
red or blue alert, and stand down to cruise mode
(condition green), respectively (below). Alert modes
are only available while mission critical subsystems
are displayed.
Auto destruct
If you hit the red alert button while
the display is already in red alert
mode, you will be taken to the
autodestruct system (right). Once
the autodestruct counter reaches
zero, the application will display
static until you click the left mouse
button, then it will exit.
To shut down the autodestruct system, click the ABORT SEQ button, and then the CONFIRM
ABORT button before the autodestruct counter reaches zero.
Mission Logs
Pressing the Mission Ops button
will give access to the Mission
operations section. From here you
can access the Mission Overview,
Mission Logs, and Personnel
database. Any changes made in the
MCP will be displayed in the
appropriate screens.
Pressing any of the ten buttons in the left hand pane will access the applicable personnel
database file. These operate in a descending column format, the top right button (47-622457) is
file 01, the button below that (47-622458) is file 02 and so on.
Champaign
Champaign started as an optional update whereby users could edit the name and registry of the
ship listed throughout the LCARS 47 suite. The feature is now fully integrated into LCARS 47.
As stated previously these details can be changed in the Master Control Panel accessible via
the LaunchCenter
Ship Name
Experiment with spacing in between the "USS" and the name of the Starship.
Alternate Information
The Non-Federation ship sections do not use starship registries like Prolixus and Vexillum,
HaSta uses the Commanding house, Alvearium denotes the unimatrix for that ship designation,
Imperium does not have any registry information, and Duplex Carbasa denotes the Order within
the Cardasian military.
Drydock
Upon installing LCARS 47, you may notice that both Vexillum and Prolixus display MSD Load
Errors. This is because there is no schematic installed by default. To fix this, simply download
a Drydock Plugin from the LCARS downloads page (http://i.LCARS47.com/MSD).
Further Development
Out of the 8 starship class schematics available from March 1, 2012, new starship class plugins
will be released periodically. Please note that since LCARS 47 is themed around the Star Trek:
Nemesis era of Star Trek, there will not be any releases of older ships like the Constitution class,
the NX-01 et cetera. There are however, plans to release the following:
