NURSING PRACTICE EXPERIENCE

Emergency Services
Competently perform and deliver care using basic nursing process of assessment, planning,

Provide patient and family education on topics related to diagnosis, health care management,
preventative care, nutrition, and pain management.
Competently assist Physicians and other team members with emergent procedures including but
not limited to central line placement, chest-tube insertion, intubation, lumbar puncture and sample
collection, trauma assessment/care/charting,

Medical-Surgical RN within the Float Pool:


Manage acute care of orthopedic, surgical, medical, oncology, progressive/critical patients with
variety of diagnoses
Assist in Mental Health and Emergency Room Units when staffing is in need of support.

Operating Room/Endoscopy:
As a Circulating Nurse: prepare patients for surgery or procedures, assess lab values, ensure consent
has been established and confirm procedure expected. Initiate Time Out prior to procedure start.
Prepare equipment and operating room suit. Oversee, patient positioning and safety. Asist
Anesthesiologist with induction and intubation.
As a Scrub nurse: Knowledge of procedures and utensils, assist surgeon. Assist with induction of
anesthesia. Assist with patient positioning and preparing equipment.
Within Endoscopy suit: Performed conscious sedation for patients during endoscopic procedure.
Monitored airway and vital signs throughout procedure and within the Recovery area until safe to
discharge. Educated patients on test results, home care and discharge plan.

Nurse Patient Practice Care Committee:


collaborated with Peers to work on Lean project for improving medication reconciliation processes
and patient safety.
Reviewed nursing practices directly related to patient safety
Coordination with other units of hospital to assess and improve interrelated processes.
Reviewed effectiveness of hospital protocols

Documentation committee:
reviewed nursing documentation practices and assisted in design for reformatting such platforms.
