PROFESSIONAL GOALS
It is my mission to help individuals with diabetes obtain a healthful life by promoting use of diabetes
technologies, as well as, self-management to meet personalized behavioral and treatment goals that
optimize health outcomes.
SKILLS SUMMARY
EDUCATION
-B.S. in Applied Nutrition, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo Class of
2016; Deans and Presidents honors list recipient.
-Dietetic Internship, University of Nevada Reno, Spring 2017 Cohort; Clinical emphasis with
Diabetes specialization. Comprehensive program including: 6 weeks of food service, 4 weeks of
community, and 20 weeks of clinical practice.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Valley Hospital Las Vegas Clinical Dietetic Intern April 2017-August 2017
Screened through patient list and performed an assessment on those who were determined
to be at nutritional risk based on hospital protocol.
Implemented changes in nutrition therapy as needed to achieve optimum nutritional
status. Provided alternate feeding recommendations (enteral and parenteral nutrition) and
closely monitored patients for life threatening feeding complications, adjusted feedings to
improve nutrition status.
Wrote parenteral nutrition orders to be sent to pharmacy, reviewed nutrient related labs
daily and adjusted micro and macronutrients as needed.
Educated patients on a variety of medical nutrition therapy for diseases and medication/
nutrient interactions.
Performed diabetes self-management education lessons on all consults received, as well as,
for patients with poor blood glucose control.
Participated in ICU rounds daily serving as the nutrition expert.
Maintained appropriate documentation and charting, made referrals to other disciplines in
the healthcare arena.
Communicated patient needs to physicians and nurses.

Intern - January-February 2017
Developed nutrition educations materials for patient population and company employees.
Attended hospital wide management meetings, acting as the representative for the dietary
department.
Conducted a plate waste study to determine amount of goods wasted. Used this data to
create and implement a system to reduce product waste and provide a cost savings to the
department.
Conducted weekly inventory and placed food and paper good orders.
Developed and implemented a late meal tray request system which was implemented
hospital wide to increase productivity of kitchen staff. Educated nursing staff on protocols
and procedures of this plan.
Performed test tray audits to ensure meals were being assembled accurately by trayline
employees.
Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican, Henderson NV, Community Dietetic Intern - March-
April 2017
Taught a Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) class which was accredited by the American
Diabetes Association, as well as, a diabetes self-management class to community
participants.
Counseled clients privately on nutrition related topics while utilizing motivational
interviewing techniques to develop individualized goals.
Created a diabetes manual which included: self-management techniques, diabetes disease
process, and medical nutrition therapy for diabetes.
Attended local farmers markets and taught nutritious cooking demonstrations using
produce from the market.
Facilitated diabetes support groups, arranged speakers, provided participants with
nutrition related information, and encouraged diabetes self-management behaviors.
Nevada Diabetes Association Nutrition Team Member at Camp Vegas - April 2016
Collaborated with fellow dietetic interns to create and provide a nutrition education
lesson with interactive game for all participants.
Facilitated carbohydrate counting during meal times with camp participants.
Developed a meaningful relationship with camp participants and gained a deeper
understanding of the unique challenges individuals with diabetes face.
Intern for the New Orleans Saints Team Dietitian - August - September 2016
Planned travel menus, reviewed nutrient related labs and flagged for deficiencies,
created educational handouts on a variety of nutrition topics, maintained weight room
nourishment station, made supplemental shakes, assisted in the facility kitchen as
needed, and shadowed the staff dietitian on athlete consults and body composition
testing.
Student Assistant for Project Peanut Butter Malnutrition Study - April 2016 - Present
Collaborated with a fast-paced scientific team to produce adherence results from 350
pregnant malnourished women in Malawi.
Conducted data entry and statistical analysis using JMP software with Statistician consults.
Summarized research outcomes with team members to produce a scientific paper which is
currently out for publication.
