Course Description
This course allows students to further development their golf swing and short game. This course
will also review golf concepts, rules and etiquette. This course will utilize class discussions, class
assignments and student participation to enable students to: (1) Understand basic components of
skill-related and health-related physical fitness, (2) Develop physical fitness and motor skills, and
(3) Develop a positive attitude toward wellness and physical activity which will facilitate a healthy
lifestyle.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Explain game playing skills, strategies, terminology and techniques associated with golf
Properly care of equipment
Identify basic concepts associated with golf (terminology, rules, etiquette, etc.)
Properly perform strengthening and conditioning exercises to decrease the risk of injuries
associated with golf. As well as perform appropriate warm-up and cool-down exercises with various
dynamic and static stretches.
Implement intelligent choices within their lives that contribute to a healthy, active lifestyle

Course Assignments
There will be several written assignments in this course which will serve as tools that students
should find useful long after theyve completed the course. All assignments will be available
through Canvas.

Student practice at least 10 hours outside of class time and list the following:
a. Days/Dates/Time/Location
b. Describe the practice session
c. Describe your mental (i.e. calm, excited, frustrated, etc.) and physical performance.
Late Assignments
If assignments are not submitted on time, grades will be reduced by 10% for each day late (one
letter grade for every 24-hour period an assignment is late, including weekends). After 4 days,
assignments will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor
prior to class if you are unable to meet the abovementioned requirement.
You must attend 80% of all classes (4 absences max) and successfully complete all written assignments.
There will be no make-up classes. The only excused absences will be for: documented illness, university
documented absence and documented family emergencies. Roll will be taken at the beginning of each
class. Students who arrive 5 minutes late to class, will be counted late for the day (2 late arrivals = 1
absence). Grading basis is Satisfactory/No Credit and will be reflected as S/NC on your transcript.
Attire and Equipment
Appropriate golf or athletic clothing is to be worn at all times. Tennis, running, or golf shoes only.
Golf clubs and balls will be provided. Bring your own if you have them.
Bring a water bottle as well be on the back end of the driving range most weeks and there isnt a
fountain back there.

3. Any injury or illness during class MUST be reported to the instructor and an incident/accident
report must be filled out.
4. Only registered participants may attend this course.
5. Return all clubs, balls, and tees to their proper place before leaving.

bestrugglingsothatinstructorscanadjustteaching,andstudentscanadjuststudying.Thesemight
involvewrittenreflections,checksforunderstanding,reflectionquestions,activitiesinclass,
quizzes,onlinetests,projectsduringclass,journals,presentations,exams,orpapers.Pendingthe
typeofassignment,gradingwillbedoneutilizingarubricspecifictothatproject/paper/presentation
