1.0 SCOPE

1.1 This procedure describes the method of preparation for pneumatic testing performed for

Project: SFQA/G76 Generator Set Engine Diesel Day Tank

2.0 REFERENCE

2.1 ASME Section VIII Div. 1 2015 Ed

3.0 PREPARATION FOR PNEUMATIC TEST

3.1 All welding to be completed and all nozzles to be blinded and all the NDE was carried out
prior pneumatic testing.

4.0 DURING PNEUMATIC TESTING

4.1 The pnuematic testing pressure shall be 1 bar tested with dry air.

4.2 The pressure shall be held for at least 3 minutes and long enough for inspector to do
inspection.

4.3 Surface of all tested areas shall be sprayed or covered with soapy solution.

5.0 ACCEPTANCE

5.1 If no bubbles detected on the surface, the unit is deemed have no leaking and shall be
documented in pneumatic test report.

5.2 If any area shown the bubbles through the soapy solution, the areas must be repaired and
retest until there are no leaks.

5.3 Tell tale holes (if any) shall be plugged with grease after completion of testing.

5.4 The metal temperature during pneumatic test shall be maintained at least 30F
(17C) above the minimum design metal temperature to minimize the risk of brittle
fracture.

6.0 Safety

6.1 Leak test area to be barricaded and safety sign to be placed.


6.2 All the witnesses near the test area must wear safety google.

7.0 Sample Report

7.1 Refer to Attachment 1

8.0 Instrumentation

8.1 All Instrument used must have valid calibration certificate.

8.2 Pressure gauge range must not less than 1.5 bar and not more than 4 bar.
