When changing internet service providers for a Checkpoint firewall, the following steps must be taken: 1) Log into the Security Gateway and change the external interface IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway to the new ISP settings. 2) Reestablish the Security Management connection between the Gateway and Management Server by running the Setup Wizard and entering the one-time password. 3) Update the firewall object in the management server with the new external IP address and reset trusted communication. 4) Install the policy on the firewall to complete the ISP changeover process.

Changing ISP for checkpoint firewall

When Internet service Provider changes, we need to change the external interface IP address of
checkpoint firewall.

Step to follow to change the ISP IP address on Checkpoint firewall:-

1) Login to Security gateway


2) Click on Device, under Network option click on Internet button,

3) Click on Edit button & fill the IP address, subnet mask & default gateway as per provided by ISP.
4) Click on Apply.
5) Default route will get added automatically under Routing option.

6) Now you need to reestablish SIC between security gateway & Management server. Under Home
Tab click on Security Management, click setup.
7) Click on Next.
8) System will prompt you for set-One Time Password (SIC)
9) Click Next
10) Write your SMS server IP in Management IP field & click on Connect
11) Click Finish

12) Go to Management server & Select policy Package.


13) Select Checkpoint firewall object under Network Object for which we need to change the ISP IP,
Double click on selected firewall object.
14) In General Properties change the IP address of firewall in IPv4 Address section.
15) Click OK
16) Click on Topology TAB, click on Get, Interfaces with topology.
17) Click on Accept
18) Click on communication.

19) Click on Reset.


20 ) Type one time password, it should be same which is set on security gateway. Check Initiate Trusted
communication now & click on Initialize.
20) After getting Trust established message click on OK.
21) Click on Test SIC Status.

22) Click Close.

23) Install the policy on Firewall.
