Introduction MECTHENE PU is a high performing, high purity, cost effective, non-flammable, non-ozone
depleting chlorinated organic compound that has been designed for use as an auxiliary
blowing agent in the production of flexible polyurethane foams.
Advantages of
Mecthene PU • MECTHENE PU contains a specially developed stabilizer package which protects

Information
relating to the • The MECTHENE PU molecule (Methylene Chloride – CH2Cl2 ) is a well known and
environment, well studied molecules who’s chemical, environmental and health and safety
health and safety properties are well understood.
• MECTHENE PU does not destroy the ozone layer. It’s impact on global warming and
acid rain is considered negligible and is Biologically degradable in the environment.
• It is important to train personnel in the safe handling, storage and disposal of
MECTHENE PU and to instruct them in standard safety procedures. For further
health and safety details, please refer to the safety data sheet for MECTHEN PU.
Your local Dow office or distributor will be pleased to provide you with any further
information.
How to use
MECTHENE PU • Formulations containing up to 30 php MECHTENE PU have been run commercially to
produce foams with very low densities and harnesses.
• Due to the cell opening effect of MECTHENE PU slightly higher levels of Stannous
Octoate catalyst and Silicone are required to stabilize the rising foam.
• The amount of Mecthene PU used will depend upon the required foam hardness and
density and other foam formulation parameters employed e.g. water level.
