Corporate Credo
Hitachi Automotive Systems began in 1930 with Hitachi’ s domestic production of automotive
electric parts. For the more than 80 years since, we have continually expanded our operations
in the automotive equipment business.
In recent years, the environment surrounding automobiles has undergone significant changes.
In addition to the basic functions of moving, turning, and stopping, demand has increased for
technology that ensures environmental sustainability. Furthermore, safety technology to reduce
vehicle accidents and realize a zero-accident society, as well as improvements in comfort and
convenience, are driving consumers. Companies must also respond to the diversification of
markets in the wake of globalization.
To provide fast, optimal solutions that create added value, we are strengthening our capabilities as
a company. Specifically, we are reinforcing our electrification and electronics technologies, as
well as our system development capabilities, in order to achieve a society of autonomous driving
and smart mobility. In addition, we are accelerating our decision-making processes and

Environment Field
To meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations around the world, there is a need to efficiently convert
fuel into kinetic energy, and reduce emissions of gases such as CO2. Key Components
We have developed engine technologies such as direct injection and valve timing control that greatly increase
the efficiency of internal combustion engines. In addition, we use simulation and analysis technologies to
continually refine our components, improve engine thermal efficiency, and produce clean engines with a reduced
environmental burden. A Control Unit for DIG System

outstanding performance, our technologies also provide optimal drive control. Our direct injection gasoline (DIG) technology is enabled by
fuel pumps that provide precise fuel injection control. Furthermore, our valve timing control (VTC) technology continuously varies the G Transmission Control Unit

analysis technologies. In an engine, a fuel-air mixture is formed inside the combustion chamber from fuel spray injected by the injector and
air flowing in from the intake pipe. Our technology homogenizes the fuel-air mixture by simulation and analysis of this phenomenon, and

Environment Field
In recent years, vehicle electrification has seen remarkable progress, due in part to environmental regulations on
zero-emission vehicles. In addition to Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV),
and Electric Vehicles (EV), Mild Hybrid Vehicle systems using 48 volt electricity are starting to appear. Key Components
Vehicle electrification systems will prove essential for meeting environmental regulations. In addition to the main
electric powertrain components of electric motors, inverters, and lithium-ion batteries, we are developing other
technologies to maximize eco-friendliness and driving performance.

C Lithium-ion Battery Pack
■ Electric Powertrain Solutions
D Starter for Idle Stop System
In order to respond to the growing demand for electric powertrains, we aim to address various market needs by developing technologies
such as electric motors, inverters, and lithium-ion batteries. We use rectangular wiring to create motors that produce high torque with a
reduced torque ripple, yet remain very compact.
In addition, by using double-sided direct-cooling power modules, we can produce compact and lightweight inverters with a high output,
thereby meeting a diversity of needs.

Safety Field
Expectations are increasing for safe, comfortable, and highly efficient autonomous driving systems that can eliminate Key Components
accidents, reduce driver workload, and resolve traffic congestion, thereby helping to achieve a smart mobility society.
In order to realize a safe and secure autonomous driving system, we are developing a 360 degree sensor fusion
system that can detect the surrounding situation by integrating sensor data from sources such as stereo cameras and
radars. Data from this system is used by our autonomous driving ECU to make instantaneous decisions on
acceleration, deceleration, and lane-changing.

Safety Field
Chassis products determine the basic functions of automobiles - moving, turning and stopping.
By coordinating and harmonizing the chassis with various control technologies, we can count on improved safety
and comfort.
In order to aim for an even higher level of safety, the core elements of brakes, steering, and suspension have
been electrified and subjected to electronic control. We created a system that completely integrates all aspects Key Components
of vehicle motion. The aim of this system is to improve motion performance by responding in real-time to
changes in the state of tires, road surface and the vehicle itself, as well as to achieve autonomous driving, which
requires coordinated driving control. A Electric Power Steering
