Load Calculation For G+2 Residential Building

The document describes the process for calculating loads on different structural elements of a building with multiple floors. The loads calculated include: - Dead loads from self-weight of structural elements like slabs, beams, columns, and walls. - Live loads on slabs based on the area and a standard value. - Loads are calculated for each floor starting from the top floor and accounted for in the lower floors. - Total loads on each structural element like slabs, beams and columns are calculated by multiplying the individual loads with the number of such elements. - The total load on the foundation is calculated by adding the total loads from all floors to the floor finish and plinth beam self-weight

LOAD CALCULATION

FOR SECOND FLOOR

FOR SLAB

Calculate each load for each slab member or make it as a group and calculate for

Maximum area.

Dead load

Self weight on slab = thickness x area x unit weight of concrete

Self weight of parapet wall = breadth x depth x unit span x unit weight of wall

Floor finishes = 0.5 KN/m2 x area of slab ( refer page 336 – ramamurtham)

Live load

Live load on slab = 3 KN / M2 x area of slab ( refer page 335 – ramamurtham)

Loads on slab = live load + dead load

Total loads on slab in second floor = number of slab x loads on the slab

BEAM

find critical beam and calculate load for that critical beam.

Dead load

Self weight of the beam = beam dimension x unit span x unit weight of concrete

Self weight of wall = breadth x depth x unit span x unit weight of wall

Load on beam = load on slab + dead load

Total load on beam = number of beam x load on beam

COLUMN

Find critical column and calculate load for that

Dead load

Self weight of column = column dimension x floor height x unit weight of conc.

Self weight of wall = breadth x depth x unit span x unit weight of wall

Load on column = dead load + (total load on beam )

Total Load on column = load on column x number of column

Total load on second floor = total load on slab + total load on beam + total load on
column

LOAD CALCULATION

FOR FIRST FLOOR

Floor finishes = 0.5 KN/m2 x area of slab ( refer page 336 – ramamurtham)

Live load

Live load on slab = 3 KN / M2 x area of slab ( refer page 335 – ramamurtham)

Loads on slab = live load + dead load + total load on second floor
Total loads on slab in first floor = number of slab x loads on the slab

BEAM

find critical beam and calculate load for that critical beam.

Dead load

Self weight of the beam = beam dimension x unit span x unit weight of concrete

Self weight of wall = breadth x depth x unit span x unit weight of wall

Load on beam = load on slab + dead load

Total load on beam = number of beam x load on beam

COLUMN

Dead load

Self weight of column = column dimension x floor height x unit weight of conc.

Self weight of wall = breadth x depth x unit span x unit weight of wall

Load on column = dead load + total load on beam

Total Load on column = load on column x number of column

Total load on first floor = total load on slab + total load on beam + total load on
