Passport Specification
The passport sized photo(s) which are pasted on your application form, as well as any
additional loose photos sent with application, must follow the strict guidelines as mentioned
below.
Photo Requirements:
The photo should be 2 inches by 2 inches (51mm x 51mm).
The photo should be close of head and top of shoulders so that face takes up 70%
-80% of the photo.
The skin tone should be natural and should have appropriate brightness and contrast.
The image should be straight looking, centered with neutral expression.
The eyes must be open and hair should not cover the face.
If glasses are worn then should be clear and thin framed and should not have flash
reflection or cover the eyes.
Head coverings, hair, head-dress or facial ornaments should not cover the face.
The photograph must be taken in a colored attire, for example, a medium blue shirt
etc.
The attire should not be patterned / textured or pure white.
The photo must have WHITE background.
There must be no other people or object in the background of the photo.
The lighting must be uniform and should not have any shadows on the face or behind.
Red eye photos will not be permissible.
Photo should not be older than 6 months.
Photo should not be folded.
Photo should have any crease or line on it.

As regards the photograph of the children under ten years of age, requirements can
be somewhat relaxed in respect of height of the
face, and the position of the eyes in the
photographs; and in case of babies and
infants also, the position of the face,
the facial expression, the eyes and the
line of sight can have some relaxation.
However, a frontal photograph with
clarity is required for children. It should
show the child alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible), looking at
the camera with a neutral expression and the mouth closed.
