Education is valued in society since it is a vehicle for imparting knowledge and all kinds of skills. It is the result of gaining
knowledge through instruction or a learning experience. Education develops and cultivates character as well as the
intellect, and plays a crucial role in the socialization process. Through education people are able to learn about the world
around them and grasp new ideas, and as a consequence evaluate their actions and make well-informed decisions.
Education increases people’s earning potential and is also essential for career advancement.
Children are enrolled in primary school between the ages of six and seven though they are obliged to start their education
earlier by attending pre-school programmes in the kindergarten. The primary school consists of two levels, that is, the
lower primary level and the upper primary level, both of which are made up of four grades. Today, in the fast-changing
education system it is difficult to give precise definition of the Hungarian secondary education system but there are three
basic types of schools for students: secondary grammar school, secondary vocational school, and vocational school. Since
Hungary signed the Bologna declaration, the tertiary education has been divided into two levels, bachelor and master.
The purpose of the bologna process is to make the standards of academic degrees comparable and compatible in all the
participating countries.
Most problems that schools have to deal with stem from lack of financial resources. A lot of buildings are old and in poor
conditions. The furniture and equipment are not up-to-date in many schools, and the circumstances hinder effective
education.

Lifelong learning:
Lifelong learning is a frequently discussed issue nowadays. It means acquiring new information and updating knowledge
either informally or formally throughout one’s lifetime. Lifelong learning is required both by modern society and the well-
being of the individual. Because of the advances of technology and the other fundamental changes it brings about, both
national and global economies can only survive if people constantly update their knowledge and participating in
educational programmes. The learning process stimulates the mind thus promoting a healthy brain. Furthermore joining
courses, workshops, or any kind of group learning events makes educating oneself a rewarding social experience.
Labour market:
-employer: provides labour and expertise for their employer and is paid a salary in exchange
When starting work, employees sign a contract with their employer which gives them certain rights, for example it
determines the number of days they can go on holiday.
- employee: a good employee is efficient, loyal to the employer, reliable, can adapt to changing work conditions, and able
to cooperate with colleagues.
