1 Standards And Codes Of Practice For Compliance
1.1 General
The Contractor shall comply with the provisions of the latest version of the following
standards and specification.
In the event of a conflict between any of the standards of that particular section specified
herein, the most stringent standard shall apply.
All materials used in the Work shall conform to the local building code requirement. It shall
be incumbent upon the Contractor to fully ascertain the requirements of the local
authorities and comply fully with the same at no additional cost to the Employer. Proof of
acceptance and approval by the local building authorities shall be submitted where
required.
For Sections whose standards are not identified herein, reference is to be made to the
respective Section.

1.4.3 Australian Standard

1.4.4 The minimum acceptable standard for materials furnished under this Section shall
be not less than British Standards (BS) for the respective materials to be furnished.
In the absence of a specified British Standards, the standards of ASTM and UL
shall prevail.
1.4.5 Metal accessories, reinforcing, ties, anchors, etc., shall be of hot dip galvanised
steel for all internal dry areas, and for all external brickwalls as well as brickwalls
to wet areas shall be stainless steel 304, furnished by acceptable manufacturers
and shall comply with specification requirements.

1.4.6 If requested by the Architect, submit samples of the bricks and blocks for testing
and pay all fees in connection therewith. The Contractor shall allow the Architect
to take additional samples of bricks of each type from each consignment free of
charge for testing as required.
