INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP

SOL LEVEL 3
Lesson Plan
Class: 06

I. CLASS OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this class are:

1. Understanding that God has given you permission to be successful.

2. Learn that being successful requires us to have a right attitude.

3. Learn the Ten Commandments for Connecting with People.

I. INTRODUCTION

A. Introduce Yourself

i. Name and how you are connected in the G12 Strategy

ii. Introduce your class assistant.

B. Student Icebreaker

i. Break your class into pairs (groups of 2’s or 3’s).

ii. Have each person answer this question: What is one goal you would like to
accomplish for the Lord in your lifetime?

II. INSTRUCTORS NOTE**

When you are preparing your lesson please use personal examples as well as illustrations that
will enhance your message and get the point across to the students. Read the class
objectives and prepare to answer and minister to the students accordingly. This is not a
Sunday school but a class that brings healing, deliverance, ministry to their needs and
instruction while casting vision for their personal and ministerial lives.
III. TAKING THE LEAD, CONNECTING WITH OTHERS

a. Where are we going?

Leaders need to know where they are going and people want to know where the leader
is leading them.

At Word of Life Christian Center, we are always moving forward in the vision that the
Lord has given us.

1. The Visions of WOLCC

Advancing the Kingdom of God,

in order to establish the revival capital of the Pacific.

Equipping the saints,

In order to do the work of the ministry.

Building together the body of Christ,

In order to stand mature and complete in all the will of God.

One of the primary ways we are moving forward and accomplishing this great vision is
through the G12 Strategy.

2. The G12 Strategy

a. Our Strategy: To win souls and make disciples.

b. Our Goal: Every believer becomes a leader.
c. Our Process: The Ladder of Success.

Life Groups is the heart of the G12 Strategy. The Life Group leader is the key to having
a growing and vibrant Life Group.

At Word of Life, we don’t do life alone!

b. We were created to be successful!

John 15:16, 17 (NKJV)

16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and
bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My
name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

God gave us His permission and blessings to be successful!

Becoming successful in God’s eyes begins with having the right motive.

c. We lead by serving.

Matthew 20:25-28 (NLT)

25
But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it
over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. 26 But
among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your
servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. 28 For
even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a
ransom for many.”

Our strength to serve will only come from the Lord.

Colossians 1:10, 11 (NCV)

10 so that you will live the kind of life that honors and pleases the Lord in every way.
You will produce fruit in every good work and grow in the knowledge of God.11 God will
strengthen you with his own great power so that you will not give up when troubles
come, but you will be patient.

d. Ten Commandments for connecting with People.

Getting along with people is an important aspect in growing in God and in your Life
Group.

The Carnegie Technological Institute has stated that 90% of all people who fail in
their life’s vocation fail because they cannot get along with people.

i. Smile!

It takes seventy-two muscles to frown, only fourteen to smile.

Even when you are talking in person or over the phone it makes a big difference
in your attitude and tone.

Your presentation of yourself can either attract others or draw them away from
you.

ii. Be vocal, speak to people.

There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word or greeting.

Also, when talking keep in mind of your body language. Don’t fold your arms or
tap your foot.

Eye contact is a must and don’t look distracted. Be genuinely concerned about
them.

Class: 06
Breath fresheners and personal presentation of yourself is vital. If you feel good
about yourself people will hear it in your voice.

People will respond to you based upon what they think of you.

iii. Call people by their name.

It’s music to anyone’s ears to hear their own name.

It makes the conversation personal.

iv. Be friendly and helpful.

Proverbs 18:24a (NKJV)

A man who has friends must himself be friendly

When you initiate to be friendly, it will be returned to you.

v. Be cordial

Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure, and if it isn’t, learn
to make it so.

Proverbs 10:12 (NKJV)

Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all sins.

vi. Be genuinely interested in people.

Find something interesting and kind to say about them.

Ask open ended questions about their families, hobbies. Leave room for them to
respond.

Your conversations should not be interviews but to have them “open up” and
share their lives with you.

vii. Be generous with praise and cautious with criticism.

Always minister with a sense of hope and not judgmental attitude.

Praise them in their good and encourage them to overcome their faults or
mistakes.

Class: 06
People don’t respond well when criticized. They shut down and refuse help from
the individual who is criticizing them.
People respond well to praise.

Enter a conversation with praise and end a conversation with praise.

viii. Be considerate with the feelings of others.

There are usually three sides to a controversy: yours, the other person’s and the
right one.

Don’t have a judgmental attitude. People need help out of their mistakes, not to
be judged by them.

The spirit that you have when you minister to them will determine how they will
respond to you.

Matthew 7:1, 2 (NKJV)

1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you
will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

ix. Be alert to swerve them.

What counts most in life is what we do for others.

Galatians 5:13 (New Living Translation)

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t
use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve
one another in love.

x. Top it all off with these….

A good sense of humor

A big dose of patience
A spirit of humility

You will do well in “connecting with people” if you apply these simple truth’s to
your life.

The goal of connecting with others is to win them to you.

Jesus connected and won His disciples hearts and we need to do the same.
