FAQs On IsDB Scholarship Programme Updated
The Programme was launched in 1983 with the objective to provide educational opportunities for
the academically meritorious young students from member countries and Muslim communities in
non-member countries to pursue undergraduate or first-degree study in a university and to train
them in specific fields to empower communities with a special focus on “Sustainability Science” to
support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their communities and
countries.
To expedite the disbursement of students’ scholarship entitlements, such as monthly stipends and
allowances, IsDB will sign MoUs with Top Universities to host host IsDB students and agree on the one-
stop shop (arrangement of accommodation, direct payments to students via the university), and as such
IsDB will make direct on-time payment annually to universities hosting all IsDB students. Universities
will arrange their entitlements on monthly basis. The above process will result in better management of
students’ allowances; cost saving for IsDB (from swift charges) and less burden on both IsDB Finance
Department and Correspondence Bank for money transfers.
