The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) will be
conducting its 40th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) on July 11-12, 2018. Revolving around
the theme “Science and Technology-Enhanced Transformation for Sustainability and
Industrialization (2018-2030)”, this year’s ASM will be hosted by the NAST Biological
Sciences Division.

In preparation for this ASM, Regional Scientific Meetings will be held in Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao. For the Luzon RSM, the theme will be “Science and Technology-Enhanced
Transformation for Sustainability and Industrialization,” with focus on SDGs 6-Clean Water
and Sanitation, 11-Sustainable Cities and Communities and 12-Sustainable Consumption and
Production. The Luzon RSM will be held on May 8-10, 2018 at Royce Hotel, Clark
Freeport, Pampanga.

We would like to invite Dr. Ryan De Lara as Discussant on 10 May 2018, 9:00 AM for
Plenary Session 3: SDG NO.11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities - “Topic 2- Smart
City Program”. Attached herewith is the draft program for your reference.

We are expecting 300 research and development practitioners from DOST regional offices,
state universities and colleges, and other government agencies all over Luzon to participate in
this activity.

Should you accept our invitation, we would like to request you to submit on or before 24
April 2018 a copy of the following for our souvenir program:

1. One 2x2 colored picture (high resolution if scanned); and


2. 1 to 2 paragraphs updated personal profile.
