biographies and primary source documents, hundreds of reference books (including the Columbia
Encyclopedia and the CIA World Fact Book), an Image Collection containing photos, maps, flags, and color
PDFs, and expanded full-text backfiles (back to 1975) for key magazines .
Primary Search provides full text for more than 70 popular, magazines for elementary school research. All full
text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles), and full text information
dates as far back as 1990.
Funk and Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia - This database provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries
covering a variety of subject areas.

Learning Resource Centers Upgrade its

Facilities in All Campuses
Good news to all library users!
Learning Resource Centers (LRCs) in all campuses under the Library Department have recently undergone
renovation and upgrading of its facilities with the support of OLFU Administration. These recent upgrades, of
course, are geared towards providing conducive learning environment to library users and also to support their
growing and diverse academic and research needs. Additional LRCs were constructed in a selected campuses to
cater to the growing student population. Further, various LRCs are now provided with new and additional sofas,
chairs and tables, and upgraded/refurbished shelves and circulation counter area. In addition to that, Information
Commons equipped with Computer Terminals with electronic resources and LCD TV, and separate Quiet Study Area
are now situated in some LRCs to accommodate diverse needs of clientele.

Library-Faculty Collaboration Meeting
The Our Lady of Fatima University Library Department conducted its annual Library
Committee Meeting in all four campuses of OLFU during the month of May 2015. In
place of the usual meetings conducted to discuss prevailing issues of both the library
and the faculty members representing their respective programs, the Library
Department decided to shift its focus on collaboration, thus, this year’s gathering
was dubbed as the Library-Faculty Collaboration Meeting, with the theme “Strong
Collaboration for Quality Outcomes”. Our very own esteemed Vice President of
Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Heracleo D. Lagrada chaired
the meeting and shared to all participants relevant points on how both librarians
and faculty can achieve their respective outcomes.
The collaboration meeting kicked off in Valenzuela Campus on May 7, then at

Quezon City Campus on May 19, at Antipolo Campus on May 21, and finally at
Pampanga Campus on May 27. The meeting was attended by Deans, Program Heads,
Faculty Members, Librarians, and Library Staff in all OLFU Campuses.
Dr. Lagrada discussed relevant issues concerning both parties, and suggested
solutions on pressing matters. More importantly, he highlighted how collaboration
can positively impact the library services and faculty instruction and eventually help
students reached the course desired outcomes and satisfy their information needs.
The event was made possible by the leadership of our Chief Librarian, Mrs. Corazon
B. Monroy, and efforts from the professional Librarians, and staff of the Library
Department.
OLFU Library Renamed as “Learning Resource Center”

Starting this academic year 2015-2016, the Library Department and the different library
units in all campuses under its administration will be renamed as the Library Resource
Center (LRC). The reason for this change is the shift of the university to focus more on
acquiring different resources in various formats and not only having books or printed
materials in its collection. This name change was approved by Dr. Caroline S. Enriquez,
our University President.

Freshmen students of the university starting
on the 4th week of June 2015 and will run
for three weeks. The Library Orientation
Program is specifically aimed at informing
freshmen students about the OLFU
Library—its rules and regulations, library
entitlements and services, and how to find
materials at the library. For more
