ITS401 - Additional exercise for blended learning – Week Without

Walls (5 – 11 May, 2018).

Fintech has been the talk of the town. Fintech companies use
technology to make financial institutions more efficient. But on the other
hand, banks do point out that this technology could disrupt its banking
purposes.

In this exercise:

1. Using UiTM libraries e-resources, find a journal regarding

fintech. For example:

Setyawati, I., Suroso, S., Suryanto, T., Nmjannah, S.D. 2017. Does Financial
Performance of Islamic Banking is better? Panel Data Estimation. European
Research Studies Journal, 20(2A), 592-606.

2. Read the journal and understand it.

3. In your own words, write a one page summary of the journal
that you have read. Sample is as per paragraph below.

Financial technology” or “FinTech” refers to technology enabled financial

solutions. FinTech is often seen today as the new marriage of financial
services and information technology. Fintech or financial technology is a
term used to denote firms that offer modem technology in the financial
sector. Such companies have become a noticeable trend since 2010.
Fintech firms are mostly micro, small or medium-sized firms that do not
have a lot of equity, but have a clear idea of how to introduce new or
how to improve existing services in the financial services market.
Commonly, these are fintech start-ups, the number of which is constantly
increasing (by various estimates, their number has already exceeded ten
thousand firms). As a rule, venture investment and crowdfunding are
used to finance fintech firms. Some professionals also claim that fintech
start-up enterprises improve the efficiency of the financial system
(Vlasov, 2017; Vovchenko et al., 2017; Setyawati et al., 2017).

4. Your selection of journal must not be the same as your friends.

Since you have a WA group, check with your friends who are
doing on what journal so that there won’t be any overlap.
5. Email the name of your journal (in pdf format) and your one page
summary to nhayati@tmsk.uitm.edu.my
6. Due date is on Friday 11th May, 2018.

Tips:

Once you find a journal, there will be a list of references in the journal
that your other friends can read and write a summary.

Your one page summary should include the name of journal as formatted
above.
