IV. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. Preparatory Activities
Greetings
Prayer
Checking of Attendance

B. Motivation
I’m going to group you into two.
The left side will be team A and the
right will be team B. Now, I will ask
questions and the one who gets the
correct answer will gain a point for
their team. The team who has most
points will win a prize. What is the prize, ma’am?

The winning group will not have

homework.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

What company comes first to your

mind when you see this?(Show picture
of Langhap Sarap, Bida angSaya!) Jollibee

Good job. (Show picture of Jollibee)

One point for group 2. How about this
one? (Show picture of We got it all!) SM

Very good. (Show picture of SM) A point

for group 1. And this one is? (Show
picture of Melts in your mouth, not in
your hands!) M&M chocolate

One point for group 1 again. Now,

I know you know this company very
Well (Show picture of Ang Burger ng
Bayan) Angel’s burger

Group 2, 2 points. Now we have a tie,

don’t worry this is not the last one, you
can still earn points until the end of the
lesson for you to get points. And the next
one is (Show Masarap kahit Walang sauce) Chooks to go

Group 1, 3 points. With all those

pictures, what do you think they have
in common? They are slogans of different
businesses.

Very good. Who has another answer? They’re what the company is known
for.
Well done. Both of your answers are
correct. Group 1 4 points and group 2
3points. Taglines or slogans are the
layman’s terms for all those. In business
world, we call it as unique selling
proposition or USP and value proposition
or VP.

C. Discussion
Using those samples, in your own words
what do you think is unique selling What the company has and others
proposition? don’t?
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

Good job. How about value proposition? What the company has?

Are they different from each other? Yes

How? USP is uniqueness, VP is what they
offer.
Let’s see whether your answers are
correct. Please look at the screen and read
the definition. A unique selling proposition (USP) is
a statement about what makes you
and your company different from
other vendors.

And for the value proposition A value proposition is a clear

statement of the tangible results a
customer gets from using your
products or services.

To make it clearer. Let’s go back to our

previous examples. Langhap sarap,
bida ang saya is an example of_______. VP

Why? Because Jollibee offers food with

just a smell you know its delicious.

Good job. How about SM’s slogan. Is

it a USP or VP? USP

Why? When you go to SM you can see they

got it all. They have something for
rich people, they can eat it Max Fried
Chicken and for those who can’t
afford, you have Jollibee or KFC.

One point for your team. SM compared

to other malls offer more choices. That
sets them from other malls like Rustans.
How about masarap kahit walang sauce? USP, because being without sauce
makes it unique.

D. Generalization
Good job. So score recap Group 1 6 points
Group 2 7 points. For two points, the team
who will answer correctly wins. Here is a
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

poster and you will identify which is USP

and VP. Show the example poster Glownut. “Satisfies your eyes and taste buds”
is the VP. “You glow with a single
bite” is the USP

Why do you say so? Glownut offers beautiful and

delicious donut like other donut store
but what makes it different is its
glow in the dark.

2 points for group 1. Having 8 points

group 1 wins. So group don’t need to
do the homework for today.
Congratulations! Better luck next time
Group 2.

From the examples stated, how shall we

differentiate USP from VP? As a tagline USP tells about the
uniqueness of the product or
company while VP tells more
about the value of the product not
necessarily what makes them unique.
E. Evaluation
Count off from 1 – 5. Then go to your
respective groups and make a small
circle. Group 1 and 2 will be on the
right side. Group 3- 4 on the left and
group 5 will be at the back. In your
groups, you will make a poster with
a USP and VP for the following
businesses:

Group 1 – Richard’s Hair Salon

Group 2 – Dan Eric’s Ice Cream
Group 3 – Ihawan ni Ka Loleng
Group 4 – Club Balai Isabel
Group 5 – San Guillermo Academy

You will have 15 minutes to brainstorm

and another 2 minutes for each group to
present your posters.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

You will be graded by:

CRITERIA FOR THE POSTER AND

PRESENTATION
Creativity Originality Presentation Cooperation
25% 25% 30 % 20%

Times up. Let’s start our presentation

with group number 1. You have two
minutes to present your poster.
