What is a Green Building ?

“A green building is one which uses less water, optimizes

energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates
less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as
compared to a conventional building.”

Conceptual Drawing of Green Building

Plans to protect air, water, forest & wildlife are in fact

plans to protect man .… . by Amit Agarwal
Challenges
The Perception – it costs more to build green

Absence of a Standard Green Building Code, mandatory for new

buildings

Limited knowledge, research & resources to support investment in

green development

Complexity of green strategies, which require significant investment of

time & resources effectively

Lack of awareness about the developments / benefits in the this sector

of green building

Lack of thrust from the Government

Don’t worry about the future… . Create it!! by Amit Agarwal

Conclusion

Homes built to these standards are energy & water saving, provide its
occupants with an indoor environment which positively affect their health,
reduce the impact on the nature
It is not a cost but an investment which pays back to all stake holders year
on year
Green homes are, better homes.
it is a phrase that needs to be incorporated in our lives at each level.
It is an ideology that should be the foundation of government policies & most
important if we genuinely show our commitment and concern to
leave behind a clean and green Earth for our future generations
