Development of communication skills among infants in urban areas.

Employed as a computer Operator at Private Institution.

c. I have selected above mentioned criteria of my research as my personnel interest areas of


having infant. And also my experience in the urban setting as visiting MOH, General
hospitals, and Private hospitals. Day today discussions with peers those having infants and
family settings or units as nuclear families two adults and their children and extended
families which consist of grandparents and other relatives. Infants mostly dealing with these
family units actually toddlers and children age 1-5 engaging some more coverage as pre
schoollers and peers. Infants mostly within family units and other case mostly in day care
systems in urban settings. Within these criteria how it affect to development of
communication skills in infants has become my personnel interests areas. In the urban setting
is some more advance than rural settings as family’s belongings to different life styles and
social classes and the background of the family is somewhat different than rural setting
actually in Sri Lanka we can see same social life style in rural areas it is not that much
different families or life styles found in rural settings Further, my research type is secondary I
have gone through more than six articles including child development theories on surfing the
internet and some books as Asirimath Lamalokaya, CHD record book issued by MOH .

d. Essay mainly focused on what are the issues and challenges of developing communication
skills among infants in urban setting, within nuclear and extended family settings and the day
care system found in urban settings. With the advance facilities in urban setting, infants in
urban settings are challenged with lack of parental affection maybe both of parents are
workers in day care system how it effect of their emotional and social skills not only
cognitive communication development of infants. Facilities and Nutrition is not only thing
for infants they are highly request love and affection. It’s the real way of the infant’s

communication skills development. Some infants are staying home with helper or supporter.
In those situations and its appliance are going to be discussed in the essay with regarding the
topic of development of communication skills among infants in urban areas.

e. non- verbal communication in infants are mostly revealed in the stages as New born to
three months, 4 – 6 months, 7-10 months and 11-12 month learning skills as well as social
and emotional abilities are developed through the non -verbal communication among infants.

Child development theories below mentioned.

Attachment theory discusses the children development resulting from parental separation,
deprivation, or bereavement. It’s beginning before birth, when mother first develop emotional
feelings for their unborn babies and life long process. And how it affect on the infant
communication skill development.

Cognitive theory in early childhood development include the sensory- motor ages birth to 24
months effect of cognitive theory on infants communication skills development

The type of parenting style like punishment may lead to children who are obedient and
proficient, but less happy and self-confident. So the parental affection, love and their
commands, words how it effect on infants communication.

Ecological system theory, both environmental and biological factors are thought to shape
development and child outcomes.

Behavioral Analysis within family system and born system as genetic science
