MY STUDY PLAN
“Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere“ sounds simple yet its
powerful enough to motivate me going out of the comfort zone because like Terry Prachet said in
his book A Hat Full of Sky “Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can
see the place where you came from with the new eyes in various colors. And the people there can
see you as a differently person, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never
leaving.”.Study abroad is not only about exploring a new place and culture, it is also about re-
exploring the place where I live and myself.
Since the second-semester of Undergraduate, I involved in many organizations and

activities such as National Press Board of Indonesian Medical Students Executive Board
Association, student senate organization and Student in the School BKPBM Aceh. In addition
with my ability in managing time, I finished my study with GPA 3,60 (scale 1-4) Cum Laude
graduates. For this reason I have planned to pursue a master's degree abroad to improve my
potential in the medical field especially on medical treatment for patient, I really want to be a
doctor that can treat the patient effectively without great side effect of the medication, as far as
we know Intergrated and Traditional medication in one of the favorite medication method in
Asia that being developed and pursued as one of choice to cure diseases.
Traditional medicine comprises medical aspects of traditional knowledge that developed

over generations within various societies before the era of modern medicine. The World Health
Organization (WHO) defines traditional medicine as "the sum total of the knowledge, skills, and
practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether
explicable or not, which is used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention,
diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.In some Asian and African
countries, more than 80% of the population rely ontraditional medicine for their primary health
care needs. When adopted outside its traditional culture, traditional medicine is often called
alternative medicine. Core disciplines which study traditional medicine include herbalism,
ethnomedicine, ethnobotany, and medical anthropology.
In developed countries, patients have known more information about their health through
print media, television, and the Internet to get the detail information about their own health. As a
result, alternative therapies are very interesting because they are perceived as more natural and
safer compared to “manufactured” pharmaceutical products. Each of country has a perceptual
difference about treatment. People in developing countries are more likely to consider traditional
medicine as their primary source of medical care, whereas people in developed countries
generally consider alternative treatments as complementary.
Conventional treatments are subjected to testing for undesired side-effects, whereas

alternative treatments, in general, are not subjected to such testing at all. Any treatment –
whether conventional or alternative – that has a biological or psychological effect on a patient
may also get dangerous side-effects. Much of the claims regarding the safety and efficacy of
alternative medicine are controversial. Some alternative treatments have been associated with
unexpected side effects, which can be failed.
In Indonesia, Traditional medicine therapies are commonly used because it is more

available than conventional therapies. In addition, because of Traditional medicine practices
related to everyday life and belief systems, and because traditional healers are trusted members
of the community, Traditional medicine is often the ﬁrst source of health care at society.
Conventional health care may be a last resort, especially if the nearest primary health care
facility is some distance from the community.
China Medical University (CMU) is the first academic institution in Taiwan where
Chinese medicine and pharmacy programs are provided. The university has steadily grown to its
present position as one of the foremost medical universities in Taiwan. Located in the center of
Taichung City, CMU includes 7 colleges where western medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmacy
(including Chinese herbs), health care (including nursing), life sciences, management, and public
health educational, research and practice programs are provided. Interdisciplinary courses are
also available as the basis for students to integrate their learning experiences. With CMU’s top
ranked laboratories, a library and reference center, two comprehensive teaching hospitals, and a
strong staff commitment to students, CMU provides a total approach to medical education in a
caring, nurturing and well-equipped environment.
With all of this facilities, I am glad doing job or research under any proffesor cause I
expect that CMU will support me as a student. For my study plan at the first and the second
semester is that I will focuss on pursuing some courses that must be fulfill to adequate
knowledge to establish my thesis in the future. furthermore in the third and the fourth semester, I
will focus to carry out my thesis, publishing a high-quality research paper, proceeding paper, and
having national or international conferences. Then, I will attend several medical seminars and
workshops held by CMU or other institutions to gain various skills which are relevant to my
proficiency. Also I have a desire to continue my studies to a higher level, PhD program, and
sharing the knowledge that I get to others by becoming a professional doctor also lecturer that
could help improving society health in Indonesia especially in Aceh.
