1. General
Purpose
CONTRACTOR has responsibility for receiving, warehousing or storing, handling, and issuing
all EQUIPMENT including, but not limited to, COMPANY PROVIDED ITEMS.
2. Storage Facilities
Storage facilities shall be designed and operated to maintain the minimum conditions in
accordance with supplier requirements. This shall include for, but not be limited to,
temperature, humidity, safety, access and security.
CONTRACTOR shall maintain a log of all shelf life items in storage and ensure material issues
are managed to fulfill demand from the items with the earliest shelf life expiry date.
CONTRACTOR shall ensure disposal when the expiry date is exceeded.
Any damaged and/or corroded materials shall be quarantined and stored separately from
undamaged materials until corrective action is applied.

4. Civil Materials
Civil material (structural steel, aggregate, rebar, form material, etc.) may be stored in open lay
down area identifiable by grid location. Cement shall at all times be protected from ingress of
moisture.
5. Steel Materials
On fabricated spools, all openings shall be fully capped, plugged or covered to prevent
damage, ingress of moisture and foreign matter. Wood covers may be used on flanges
provided an impervious membrane is placed between the wood and greased flange face.
Threaded ends shall be protected with high impact plastic wedge type protectors.
Protective seals shall be inspected regularly for effectiveness. Defective protection shall be
restored or replaced.
Suitable containment shall be provided to contain accidental spillage if stored over soil, or a
plentiful supply of oil absorbent material kept nearby if stored over paving.
All containers shall be clearly marked with the name of the product they contain. Smaller
drums. Where applicable MSDS Sheets are to be available to support both Storage and
Handling/Use. In particular the storage of Chemical in relation to summer temp/heat and being
mixed together within Container or storage facilities must be implemented with caution and due
diligence to avoid potentially negative outcomes, and barrels shall carry clear manufacturer

All fuel, oils and lubricants shall be stored within a lockable compound. All tank barrel and drum
taps shall be lockable with the keys retained by CONTRACTOR’s responsible person. Barrels
and drums not in use shall be stored vertically on the concrete or hard standing area.
Barrels from which lubricants are being drawn shall be located on purpose built barrel stands.
Drums in service will be stood on elevated racks or plinths to permit the fluid to be drawn from
bottom taps into smaller cans or drums.
The area surrounding the fuel oils and lubricants store shall be designated a “no smoking” area
and notices to this effect shall be clearly displayed.
Any shelf life limitation imposed by the supplier shall be noted. Paints and chemicals will be
handled with care to prevent damage to the container and PERSONNEL will wear protective
clothing as necessary.

Pipes shall not be stored directly on the ground surface on which the pipe, bends,
spools shall be laid or stacked shall be flat and free of protrusions..
