Topic 1 –Sports Complex (Indoor Stadium), Najafgarh (New
Delhi)
About the Project –
Purpose behind choosing the project –

*I am a chess player which is an indoor game the main reason why I choose
Indoor stadium in my Thesis topic.

*India is lacking in training facilities of Athletes/players of the indoor


sports so want to design indoor stadium to provide them a chance.

Name of the client – Delhi government

Area of the site – 18.1 acre

Possible occupancy or visitors expected at the project – spectators capacity


is 10000 for the stadium. (Given in the proposal) No. of trainees is to be
calculated after the case studies and literature studies.

Location of the site- The site is situated in Kair Village in Najafgarh,


Details of requirements along with tentative breakup of areas being proposed

Provide standard Inoor stadium of 10,000 capacity to host national level


tournament.

Officials said that the project now meets the standards of


environmentally-friendly design.

DDA official said the complex will comprise a full practice field and four
mini fields, VIP and media facilities, an eight lane artificial athletics track,
four badminton courts, three squash court, and facilities for billiards,
boxing and martial arts.

The complex will also have a fitness and yoga centre, indoor and
swimming pools, fields, 8 tennis courts, basketball and volleyball court.

Aim of Project –
To create an healthy environment of sport and provide high quality
facilities to the athletes/sport’s players.

1. Yamuna sport complex, Delhi


Reason - A large number of sports facilities integrated into one single
complex.

2. Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium, Delhi


Reason- Biggest indoor stadium of India
3. The Philippine Arena

Reason- Biggest indoor stadium of the world

Aim of Project –
To create an healthy environment of history of India in a high quality facilities to the
visitors.

Case studies and literature studies –

1. National Museum

Reason - known as the National Museum of India, it is one of the largest


museums in Delhi. Boasting of over 200,000 works of foreign and Indian art,
this museum covers more than 5,000 years of worldwide rich cultural heritage.

2. Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum

It is home to some extremely rare pictures of the Nationalist movement along


with some personal moments of the Gandhi and Nehru family along with Indira
Gandhi’s childhood.
