Factors Affecting Alcoholic Drinking Among The Selected Students of St. Pius X Institute

This thesis examines the factors affecting alcoholic drinking among selected students of St. Pius X Institute. A survey was conducted of 50 students who drink alcohol to understand their demographics and behaviors. The results found that most drinkers were male, aged 17 years old, from families with monthly incomes of 20,000 to 30,000 pesos. Friends were found to be the main influence for students to start drinking out of curiosity. Students reported drinking occasionally, consuming 3-5 bottles at a time. While some felt drinking helped with personal problems, most did not think it resolved issues in life. The study also looked at the consequences of drinking on family relationships.

Title of the thesis: FACTORS AFFECTING ALCOHOLIC

DRINKING TO THE SELECTED STUDENTS

OF ST. PIUS X INSTITUTE

This study presents the factors affecting alcoholic drinking to the selected

students of the St. Pius X Institute across the different stand, status and socio

demographics profile of the respondents. The researcher would gather 50

respondents from the Saint Pius X Institute students who drink alcohol by sampling

them to represent the vast group of students who drink alcohol. Many students of

St. Pius X Institute are engaged in drinking alcohol at their young age which affects

them in many ways such as personal life and sometimes their academics.

xi
As such, the researchers had made study in order to find the factors why

the students drink alcohol at their young age. And also to know what are the effects

of alcoholism to the students who drink alcohol in terms of personal and academic

life.

The researchers had found out that there are more males who are drinking

alcohol than females with the majority age of 17 years old and a monthly family

income ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 pesos. Also the reason why the students

drink is because of Friends Influence and they was influenced by their curiosity.

They only drink occasionally with 3-5 bottles of liquor. They also found out that

alcoholic drinking can solve personal problems but not their problems in life. Also

what are the consequences of drinking alcohol in regards with their family.

The major aim of this study is to provide an important concept about the

appropriate viewing of factors affecting alcoholic drinking among the selected

students of St. Pius X Institute across the socio-demographic profiles thus the main

objective is to enlighten others about the effects of drinking liquor. As an ending

statement of this study, the researchers suggest an important recommendations

based on the consolidated and whole coverage of this study. “Students should

choose their friends wisely because in our generation today we are easily

influenced by others.” In this case they will avoid drinking alcohol in their young

age.
