Creating your own object

Creating a logo with a clapboard

Step 1. Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape


tool.

Step 2. Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar.
>> Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.

Press

Step 3. Create a New layer
>> Create a thin horizontal rectangle using
rectangular shape tool and place it above the previous shape.

Step 4. (Thin Layer) Using pen tool create a shape right above
the thin rectangle as shown in the image.

Step 5. Create a New layer


>> Create a tiny vertical rectangle using rectangular
shape tool.

Step 6. Press Ctrl+T.


>> Right click the layer
>> and select distort. Adjust nodes to get the
shape as shown.

Step 7. Duplicate layer (Alt) several times and place as shown


in the image.
>> Select all these pattern layers and from layer
palette select "new group from layers" (Ctrl E)

Step 8. Duplicate this group.


>> Press Ctrl+T. Right click the grouped layer and
select flip vertical. Place as shown in the image.

Step 9. Select all layers included in the upper portion of the


clapboard. Ctrl+T and rotate a bit.

Step 10. Select all layers. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer
and select perspective. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Step 11. Select all layers. Press Ctrl+T. Rotate it


anticlockwise.

Step 12. Select the main rounded rectangle shape of the


clapboard. Double click the layer to open layer style window.
Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Step 13. Apply same layer style to upper part of the clapboard.

Step 14. Type company name with a nice font. Place it above the
clapboard and rotate to place as shown in the image.

Creating Clipart Style Computer Logo


Step 1. Start by creating a rounded rectangle using rounded
rectangle shape tool.

Step 2. Press Ctrl+T. >> Right click the layer and select
perspective. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Step 3. Duplicate layer. Scale up the rounded rectangle lower in


layer order.

Step 4. Using direct selection tool select the nodes of left


hand side. Drag towards left to give it a monitor shape.

Step 5. Create a rounded rectangle for the keyboard using


rounded rectangle shape tool.

Step 6. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select distort.
Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Step 7. Select both the monitor layers and rotate it. Also
rotate keyboard layer as shown in the image.

Step 8. Using pen tool in path mode create wire connecting


keyboard and monitor.

Step 9. Select brush tool and choose a 5 pixel solid brush


settings. >> Create a new layer and in path window click stroke
path with brush.

Step 10. Select the screen layer. Double click the layer to open
layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Step 11. Reduce the fill value to 0% from the layer palette.
This will make it hollow keeping layer style intact.

Step 12. Copy the layer style and apply to all the layers. Make
sure the fill value of every layer is 0%.

Step 13. Create some dots for the keyboard buttons using brush
tool.

Step 14. Apply the same layer style.

Creating Mallet XP style icon for Auctions

Step 1. Start by creating a rectangle using rectangular shape


tool.

Step 2. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp.
From warp presets at the top bar select bulge.

Step 3. Create two ellipse shapes using elliptical shape tool


and place on each side of the previous shape.

Step 4. Select & merge the three shapes.

Step 5. Create a vertical rounded rectangle using rounded


rectangle shape tool. Move this layer below the upper portion
layer in layer palette.

Step 6. Select the upper part layer. Double click the layer to
open layer style window. >> Enable gradient overlay. Click
gradient and create a gradient like this in gradient editor.

Step 7. Select the lower portion layer of the gavel. Double


click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style
with the settings shown.

Step 9. Right click the layer in layer palette and click


rasterize. >> Enable lock transparent pixels from layer palette.
>> Apply a black to white gradient in linear mode.

Step 10. Change the layer mode to screen.

Step 11. Similarly Create two vertical ellipse shapes using


elliptical shape tool and place on either side. rasterize and
fill with black to white gradients. Change layer mode of left
one to screen and right one to multiply.

Step 12. Similarly add glassy highlights to the handle layer of


the gavel.

Step 13. Using pen tool in path mode create an arc shape.

Step 14. Select brush tool and a 3-pixel wide solid brush
setting. >> Create a new layer. In path window click stroke path
with brush button.

Step 15. Similarly create an arc outline on the other side of


the gavel.

Step 16. Select all layers. Press Ctrl+E to merge the layers
together. Ctrl+T and rotate a few degrees.

Step 17. Select custom shape tool and from top bar select a 10
point star shape.

Step 18. Create a new layer below gavel layer and create the
shape as shown in the image. Reduce opacity of this shape to
50%.

Creating Batman Logo

Step 1. In this tutorial we'll create batman logo using basic


shapes and vector shape modes etc. Lets start by creating a
black ellipse shape using ellipse tool.

Step 2. Duplicate the layer and transform using Ctrl+T. Scale


this ellipse down a little bit.

Step 3. Fill it with yellow color.

Step 4. Duplicate yellow ellipse layer and scale down using


Ctrl+T as done in previous step.

Step 5. Fill this ellipse with black color.

Step 6. Now we'll convert this innermost black ellipse to bat


shape. Select ellipse tool and enable "subtract from shape area"
from top panel.

Step 7. Draw a vertical ellipse over black ellipse. this will


cut a partial whole in black ellipse.

Step 8. Select direct selection tool (A) ( use the black arrow
tool not the hollow arrow icon to select the whole ellipse ).
Click on vertical ellipse to select all nodes together. Press
Ctrl+T and rotate anticlockwise. Press enter to accept the
transform.

Step 9. Press Alt, click and drag the vertical ellipse to create
a copy.

Step 10. Shift+Click select both ellipses using direct selection


tool.

Step 11. Press Alt and click and drag to create copy of both.

Step 12. Press Ctrl+T , right click and select flip horizontal.

Step 13. Now with pen tool draw upper shape as shown. make sure
"subtract from shape area" is still enabled.

Step 14. Finish the path drawing by closing the path.

Step 15. Here completes the batman logo. Well! Almost.

Step 16. I f you didn't get some nodes right, select direct
selection tool and adjust.

Create Eye logo using convert point tool

Step 1. Start by creating a simple ellipse shape using ellipse


tool.

Step 2. Select direct selection tool and click on ellipse shape.


It will select the elliptical path.

Step 3. With this path selected, select convert point tool and
click on the right and left nodes of ellipse. This will convert
the circular path to an angular one.

Step 4. We have achieved a basic eye shape after converting


these nodes to angular nodes.

Step 5. Use ellipse shape tool and enable exclude overlapping


shape areas on top bar.

Step 6. Draw a circle in the eye. This will create circular hole
in the eye shape.

Step 7. Draw another tiny circle in the center.

Step 8. Using pen tool draw an eye-brow.

Step 9. Create a new layer and draw more shapes to add details
to the eye.

Step 10. Use text tool and click on this new path and type "i"
multiple times. This will complete the eyelashes.

Step 11. Apply drop shadow to this layer.

Creating Mickey Mouse face

Step 1. Start by drawing a black circle using elliptical shape


tool.

Step 2. Create a small black circle for ear. Before drawing

Step 3. Use direct selection tool ( the filled arrow icon


instead of hollow arrow icon ). Click on small ear circle and
drag to the other side to create a duplicate of the ear.

Step 4. Take skin color as a foreground color and draw an


ellipse.

Step 5. Press Ctrl+T to transform and rotate.

Step 6. Create a duplicate of the skin color ellipse and flip it


horizontally.

Step 14. Ctrl select the shape layer to get the selection.

Step 1. Start by creating a simple beetle shape using pen tool.

Step 2. Once you complete one basic segment of your design press
Ctrl + Enter to create a selection out of your design. Fill it
with red color in a new layer.

Step 3. In this step we'll create a cloth pattern effect on this


shape. Double click this layer to open layer style window.
Enable pattern overlay and use any cloth or denim pattern.
Adjust settings as shown.

Step 4. Also enable color overlay. Use red color and change
blend mode as shown.

Step 5. Changing your blend mode will show the cloth pattern
through red color.

Step 6. Draw more path drawings with pen tool to add more
details to the beetle.

Step 8. Now we'll add stitches to the edges of beetle's round


body. We'll use text tool to do so.

Step 9. For time being hide the layer containing body of the
beetle. In path window select path of the body.

Step 10. With text tool click on this path and type "I" multiple
times. This will create stitches surrounding body of the beetle.
You can also adjust kerning settings in the text window to get a
fine distance between characters.

Step 11. Similarly type multiple "I"s on the next portion of the
body path.

tool.

Step 18. Now we'll create cheek on casper's face. Draw a


circular selection and press Ctrl+Alt+D to feather the
selection.

Step 19. Fill the selection with same gradient we use for the
body in radial mode.

Step 20. Using eraser tool erase the bottom portion of the
circle. Reduce opacity of this layer to 20%.

Step 21. Duplicate the cheek. Flip horizontally. Place on the


other side.

Step 22. Similarly create a circular nose of Casper.

Step 23. Now we'll add details to the body by creating a subtle
effect of casper's bottom. At the butt area create a big
circular selection. Feather it and apply the same gradient in
radial mode.

Step 24. Erase the bottom highlight portion using eraser tool
and reduce the opacity.

Step 25. Merge all casper layers you drawn till now. Apply outer
glow using following settings.

Curved Navigational Header

Step 1. Start by opening a new file. Fill the background layer


with the color that you have decided for your webpage.

Step 2. Draw a curved path shape layer using pen tool for your
header.

Step 3. Double click to open layer style window. Apply drop


shadow, inner shadow, bevel & emboss using settings shown below.

Step 4. After applying the layer style effects mentioned above


you'll get this result.

Step 5. Now in a new layer create an oval shape using ellipse


tool. This shape will be placeholder for a site relevant
graphic.

Step 6. Double click the oval shape to open its layer style
window. Apply outer glow and use settings as shown.

Step 7. In a new layer below all layers create another wave like
curve using path tool. Its height should be small as it will be
backdrop for our main buttons.

Step 8. Apply a small drop shadow to this shape layer.

Step 9. Using custom shape tool ( U ), draw a forward arrow


shape in a new layer.

Step 10. Take multiple copies of this shape layer and place at
some distance from each other. We have planned five main buttons
for site header so we took five copies and spread across the
width of the bar.

Step 11. Create a curve path similar to the bottom curve shape.
Press T to select text tool and click on this path. Type names
of the main pages of the site next to these forward arrow
shapes. As we clicked on the path while typing all text is moved
on this curve shape.

Step 12. We typed Home, About Us, Services, Policies, Contact Us


as these are necessary subpages for our courier service site.

Step 13. Place the company logo in a new layer towards top left.

Step 14. Now we'll place a nice relevant graphic image in the
white placeholder we left empty. We opened an image of an
envelope and dragged to our header file.

Step 15. Ctrl+ Click the white oval layer to create selection of
oval.

Step 16. With oval selection still on, make sure you select
envelope layer. From layer menu select layer>>layer mask>>reveal
selection.

select blur>>motion blur. Apply settings as shown.

Step 16. Press Ctrl+U to open hue/saturation window. Apply

opacity of the ellipse to 50%.

Step 18. Similarly create more eggs with different colors and
sizes.

Step 19. Type "Happy Easter" with a nice font and apply some
outer glow.

Step 1. Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.
