Introduction
2.

Samsung provides convenient installation methods useful for administrators. Using Easy
Deployment Manager, administrators can remotely install device drivers to multiple client
computers. Administrators can also make their own installation packages for distribution.
Installation packages can consist of applications (e.g., SmartPanel) and/or driver configuration
files. These installation packages are packaged as MSI files or self-extracting EXE files prior to
distribution (using Package Customization) or during remote installation (using Remote
Installation or AD Deployment).

Layout Overview
This section describes the layout and button functionalities of the main screen.

NO. ITEM DESCRIPTION

1 Package Customization Opens the Packace Customization function to create or

modify distributable self-extracting EXE or MSI setup
packages. The packages can then be sent to multiple
client PCs by using either Remote Installation or the AD
Deployment function.
2 Remote Installation Opens the Remote Installation function to send setup
packages to multiple client PCs in the domain. Client PCs
that have the same installation configuration can be
grouped together and sent the package at the same time.
3 AD Deployment Opens the AD (Active Directory) Deployment function to
send setup packages to multiple groups in the domain.
Client PCs receive setup packages through the group
policy for their selected group.
4 Driver Policy Deployment Opens Driver Policy Deployment to apply a changed
printer driver’s configuration to multiple clients through AD
(Active Directory) Deployment or Remote Installation,
or the configuration can be saved as an executable file to
be deployed though the infra-system via FTP, web server,
etc.

Package Customization
3.

Overview
The Package Customization function allows administrators to create customized installation packages with the desired
installation and driver settings. Drivers and/or applications to be installed, assigned printers, sharing options, etc can all be
defined in the installation packages. The administrator can disable/enable or change default values for driver settings
according to the company’s policy.

Creating an Installation Package

The created installation package can be distributed as a single self-extraction EXE package to clients through file servers
or special distribution servers, or as an MSI file. Follow these steps to create an installation package:
1. Click on Package Customization.

The “Create or modify software package” window opens.

2. Select the “Create” radio button and search for applications/drivers to include in the package.
The administrator should specify the root folder of the Samsung printer's product CD or driver folder that
includes the driver files; otherwise, an error message may be received.

You should select “Modify” to modify a package such as the Samsung Universal Print Driver that can be
downloaded from the web site.

3. Click on Next.
If you need to make changes to previous selections, click on Back.

Remote Installation
4.

Remote Installation provides the domain administrator with the ability to install drivers and
applications on remote client PCs. The deployment of packages using this button requires that
client PCs be in “groups.” The PCs in each group can then receive the same installation package
at once.

Groups are used to combine client PCs that need the same installation packages. Follow these steps to create a client
group:
1. Click on Remote Installation.

2. Click on New Group.
