This study was taken with the general objective of looking into methods in which
depression can be prevented as well as treated within the set up as well as the immediate society
is affected . This is conducted to be able to provide recommendations for every individual who
feel depressed.

INTRODUCTION

individual tends to have fatigue affecting their ability to carry out their day-to-day activities,
mood swings affecting their association with others and absent mindedness that can lead to

Depression is considered to be one of the most common diseases in the world today. It
is a disease that affects all people irrespective of their social status, educational background,
gender or race. Depression affects an individual’s feelings and adjustment to how they feel.

good care of yourself, get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly. Reach to family and
friends when times get hard. Get regular medical check-ups, and see your provider if you don’t
feel right. Get help if you think you’re depressed because if you wait, it could get worse.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study aims to understand depression and to know it’s causes. The result of the
study will be of great benefit to students, teachers and parents. The results will provide the
students with some knowledge on depression and how it can be avoided. It will give the students
a realization that committing suicide won’t be the best solution to end their misery to both the
student and the people around him. This study would also guide the teachers on what to do with
the students that is suffering from depression. Like the teachers, the parents too will understand
depression through this research and would help them formulate some preventive measures to
help their children not to develop depression and would also help them learn the actions of their
children.
This study is expected to find the problems regarding depression, to find the things that
causes depression This study is also expected to let the researchers provide recommendations
and suggestions to raise awareness about depression. This study also aim to educate individuals
about depression and how they can prevent developing depression. The conducted study will
bring about the results of the depression leads to suicide: prevention by means of doing a survey.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
This study focuses on finding on how to cope up with depression, how to prevent it
and what we can do about it. It also focuses on what factors and effects it will lead to a person

METHODOLOGY

Table 2 shows the frequency distribution of the age of the respondents. Respondents with the
age of eighteen years (18) got the highest frequency rate of 55% of the entire sample while the
respondents with the lowest frequency rate of 5% have an age of twenty years (20).

Table 3 shows depression in sexual preference of the respondents. 3 out of the female
respondents agrees on the statement (1) that their depression is caused by lifestyle factors f and
10 out of the female respondents things like stress, using alcohol or drugs and hormone changes

studying stressful. On the statement, 9 out of the female respondents shows a sign of depression.

Table 4 shows depression in association with age. Age 18 mostly experience depression.
They admitted on the statement (3) that most of them experienced depression due to academic
problems and pressure. 7 out of the age 18 respondents think that on the statement (6), it is not
easy to cope up with depression. This shows that they are aware how much depression can affect
their lives so they fought it in order to live normally. Age 20 respondents, on the other hand, feel

RECOMMENDATION
The following recommendations are offered based on the findings and conclusion of the
study.
1. The selected individual who recovered depressive episode should change on how they
handle stress.
3. Students should be aware of what will happen in the future especially when they are
going to find a stable job if they have poor performance in school since an educational
background is one of the biggest factor for an employer to accept you in their company.
Students who are in legal age should do their best to keep up their academic
performance. This will help them find a part-time job in a big company.
4. The teachers should pay extra attention to those who got low academic performance in
their subjects and teach them slowly but precisely to make them understand. They
should not pressure their students; instead they have to encourage them to motivate
them.
5. The students should not make any unnecessary things unrelated to the class during
school hours. This is to make them concentrate in the lessons presented either by the
