A. Activity
13

The teacher will distribute to the learners the result of their HRFT that was
last meeting
The teacher will let the learners analyse the result for them to know their
strength and weaknesses for the learners to identify , what specific muscle
group they are going to improve.

.
B. Analysis
The teacher will discuss the principles of Fitness Training and FITT Principles.

 Principles of Fitness Training

 Principle of Overload –it specifies that you must perform
physical exercise than normal amounts ( overload)to get an
improvement in physical fitness and health benefits.
 Principle of specificity – indicates that you must train a specific
energy system and specific muscle groups in order for the to
improve.
 Principle of progression – indicates that load could be increased
gradually overtime to remain effective and safe for best results.
 Principle of variation – variation into a training program
maintains individual’s interest and provides a change of pace
while still making progress towards desire goals.
 Principle of recovery – the body needs time to adapt to the
demands placed on it.
Source : Wuest. D.A. and Fissete J.L. (2012).Foundation of
PEESS 17th edition . NY MC Graw-Hill Companies Inc.

 FITT Principles - this will help you remember the things you need to
consider when planning for a training program.
 Frequency – refers to how often you do the physical activity.
 Intensity - refers to how hard or intense you do the activity.
 Time – refers to how long you do the activity
 Type – the kind of activity you perform or method of training
to use.
 The teacher will show to the learners an example of a FITT
card.
 This is how your FITT card should look like.
 Note: you can make your own design pls. indicate your name.

Activity 3 - My FITT Chart

Example:
My FITT CHART
LETTER WORD DEFINITION EXAMPLE
F FREQUENCY HOW OFTEN 3-5 days/week
I INTENSITY HOW HARD Low
T TIME HOW LONG 20-30 min.
T TYPE WHAT ACT. Jogging
14

C. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss to the learners the importance of physical
fitness part of their daily physical activities.

Physical fitness is relevant because it can help in doing one’s

physical activity effectively. More importantly , it also reduces the
risk of health – related illnesses.
D. Application
The teacher will let the learners compute their own resting heart rate ,
Maximum Heart Rate and Target Heart Rate ,by following the given
formula.
 Resting Heart Rate
Example : 11 ( beats in 10 seconds ) x 6 = 66 bpm
 Maximum Heart Rate
Formula : Hrmax =220 – age
Example: 220 -12 = 208 bpm
 Target Heart Rate or Training Heart Rate (THR)
1. Calculation: 220 – your age = ______________
2. ___________ - 70 = THR
Example : 220 – 18 = 202 bpm

IV . Evaluation Formative Assessment

The teacher will go around to check the work of the learners.
