I, Bhagya Lakshmi, am a final year student of Birla Institute of Technology and Science
(BITS), Pilani, India currently pursuing M.Sc.(Hons.) [Integrated] - Chemistry. Please
consider this mail as a request for doing a research assistant-ship under your guidance from
summer 2019 for one year.
I ventured into the field of Organic Chemistry through voluntarily assisting in labs, following
and reading Science journals on topics of my interest and the inception of my interest came from
intensive courses in my academic curriculum like Organic Chemistry-I, II, III, IV, Drug Design,
green chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry. I have built a portfolio which resonates with my
interests perfectly for the field of organic (medicinal Chemistry).
I have been working in Chemistry-lab from 1st year’s summer’s vacation and currently, I’m
doing a Lab oriented project on “Application of hypervalent iodine reagents in acridone
synthesis”. This project focuses on how to synthesize and purify organic compound and
structural identification of synthesized compounds using techniques like NMR and HMRs. The
previous semester, I undertook a project on the "Synthesis of diaryliodonium salt and using it
for organic transformations".
I have around a three year of exposure and experience of working in the lab and I also did a
course Instrumental Method of Analysis in which I got to know about techniques like HPLC,
NMR, HMRs, Flash chromatography, Gas chromatography etc. in great detail. Moreover, I have
also been working on software like Chem Draw and Avogadro.
I am known to be sincere, dedicated and put utmost effort to the work I take up. Working with
your team in the University of Minnesota duluth would be a great learning experience for me. I
would be grateful if you could let me know of any opportunities in your department.
Kindly find my resume shared below for your reference. Looking forward to your response.
