    Subject : DENGUE PREVENTION SCHEME

    Due to the increasing incidence of Dengue cases in the region with a total of 9,993 as of
    September 4, 2019, this Office through the Education Support Services Division-Health and
    Nutntion Section hereby enumerates the following actions to be done immediately:

    1. For School Heads to advise the students that instead of the usual uniforms being used
    in schools, wearing of long-sleeved shirts, long pants, jogging pants, PE uniforms,
    long socks or any clothing that could deter mosquito bites for both male and
    female students is a must to add protection to the children and combat the spread of
    Dengue.
    2. Ensure the implementation of the DOH's Enhanced 48 Strategy, which is a prevention
    and control strategy against Aedes-borne diseases, specifically Dengue, Chikungunya,
    and Zika viruses though lectures, symposiums, and practices for the prevention and
    control of mosquito-borne diseases;
    3. Synchronize the conduct of 4'o'clock Habit para Deng-Get Out activities which
    comprise simultaneous clean-up operations through cleaning of school and community
    surroundings, getting rid of stagnant water and other mosquito-breeding sites, and
    conduct of measures to prevent water stagnation, every day at 4:00 in the afternoon;
    4. For health personnel to continue the monitoring and surveillance in schools for the
    implementation of Dengue Prevention and Awareness Campaign particularly the
    inspection of environmental cleanliness and sanitation and monitoring of possible
    breeding sites of mosquitoes.
    5. Continuous coordination with Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development and
    nearby Rural Health Units regarding the provision of Insecticidal Nets for Schools
    Against Dengue.
