SUBTASK 72-35-41-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Air Intake Fairing/Spinner
PRE SB72-C972
(1) Installation of the Fairing, Spinner, Make-Up Piece and Support Ring
Ref. Fig. Air Intake Fairing/Spinner (PRE SB72-C972)
(a) General
1 If you replace the Fairing or the Spinner, it is not necessary to do Test 11 -
The Vibration Survey.
2 The make-up Piece and Support Ring are not usually replaced on-wing.
They are part of the 01 Module and carry the front plane balance weights.
If it becomes necessary to replace these components, then:
a You must record the position of all the balance weights on the part
to be replaced, and
b You must move the balance weights to the same position on the
new part.
3 The Support Ring can also carry the trim balance weights on its mounting
bolts. These must be put back in the same position recorded during the
removal procedure.
(b) Install the Support Ring:
1 Install the three DOWEL (HU44265) at equal distance around the LP-
compressor disc flange.
2 Put the support ring (8) in position on the three DOWEL (HU44265).
NOTE: On Engines Post SB 72-C972, the location holes for the annulus
filler pins are elongated.
3 Engage the two location pins (9) on the support ring in their related holes
in the LP-compressor disc.

b You must move the front plane balance weights (31) and (33) to the
same position on the new part.
c Install bolts (27) and (30), washers (26) and front plane balance
weights (31) and (33) if necessary.
d TORQUE bolts (27) and (30) to between 90 and 110 lbf.in (1.02
and 1.24 m.daN).
e You must write the serial number of the LP-compressor disc on the
new make-up piece (25).
f You must make sure that no trim balance bolts (IPC ref.
72-35-41-60-120) are installed on the new part.
g You must do Test 11 - The Engine Vibration Survey and, if
necessary, Test 16/16A - The LP-compressor Rotor Trim Balance
Procedure.
