IIS Configuration Settings Checklist

Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and ensure that the service is started (figure 1).

Navigate to the Web Service Extensions and ensure that ASP.NET v2.0.50727 is Allowed (figure 2).

Navigate to the Default Web Site, select and right click on Properties.

Select the ASP.NET folder tab and ensure that the version of ASP.NET is set to 2.0.50727 (figure 3).

Click OK.

Navigate to the the Web Site folder tab and ensure that the Default Web Site is the identified web site
(figure 4).

Click OK.

Navigate to the Home Directory folder tab and ensure the settings in the screenshot below match up
(figure 5).

In particular, the Start point should indicate the <Default Web Site> and the Execute Permissions is set
to Scripts Only.

Click OK.

Navigate to the Directory Security folder tab and click on the Edit button under Authentication and
Access Control (figure6).

Ensure the checkboxes are set for :

Enable anonymous access


Integrated Windows Authentication

Click OK.

If the Inheritance Overrides window appears, click on the Select All button (figure 7).

Click OK.

Exit the IIS Manager program.

Perform an IISReset from Start >Run (figure 8).

Click OK.

Attempt to open the VantagePoint Portal page. If it opens, then the security settings are most likely
setup already (figure 9).

If not, the webpage will display http related errors. The first thing to check is whether the portal is in
the Local Intranet zone.

If not adjust it by double clicking on the Internet Security setting at the lower right hand corner of the
Portal page. The Internet Security Properties window appears (figure 10).

Select the Local Intranet and then click on the Sites button

In the Local Intranet zone, add the URL of the VantagePoint Server and click on the Add button (figure
11).

Click Close to finish and then open the VantagePoint portal again.
