CHEMONICS INTERNATIONAL INC. Uganda
Dear Sir / Madam,
RE: APPLICATION FOR A VACANCY: DEPUTY CHIEF OF PARTY
This is to apply to Chemonics Uganda for the vacancy of Deputy Chief of Party (Supply Chain Technical Assistance Activity). I am a Ugandan national with a Masters degree in Global Health and over 20 years public health and health system strengthening experience in Uganda. I also have a post-graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management. I have worked with UNICEF Uganda and the Ministry of Health (MoH), NGOs and partners to lead, manage, plan, coordinate and supervise health systems strengthening programmes as my contribution towards making a difference in the lives of Ugandans. From 1998 to 2002 I served as a Board Member on the National Medical Stores (NMS) Uganda. NMS provides quality, affordable, effective and efficacious essential medicines and health supplies to the Ugandan population. From 1995-2004 and 2005-2007 I worked at Joint Clinical Research Centre and Baylor Uganda at senior management level to provide quality adult and pediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment services respectively and supervised a total of 16 staff. As the Chief Pharmacist in both centers of excellence, and as the projects expanded HIV/AIDS services countrywide under the PEPFAR- TREAT programme, supply chain management of medicines (both anti-retrovirals - ARVs and essential medicines) was a key activity that I spearheaded to ensure programme success. In 2009 I worked with UNICEF and MoH and carried out a VHT situation analysis to assess the effectiveness and impact of community health extension workers called Village Health Teams (VHTs) in bringing health closer to the people in light of the limited human resources for health and as a way of bridging the gap between health centers and the community. From 2017/18 at UNICEF I worked as the coordinator for community-level interventions in 19 districts in Uganda (including the 7 districts in Karamoja region) using standardized and integrated packages: Maternal and Newborn Health Key Family & Community Care Practices (MNH KFCPs) and integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) of malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea and malnutrition in children under five years of age. I managed a budget of USD 18 million, provided technical, strategic, financial and capacity-building support to over 60 health workers and 14,000 community health workers at all levels of the health system, mentoring, training and supervising them while ensuring efficient use of UNICEF resources and an efficient supply chain of health commodities. I am currently working at Daren Pharmaceuticals Ltd as a Pharmacist Director, where I provide managerial and technical oversight to ensure that quality, effective and efficacious essential medicines and health supplies are available at all times. We provide excellent pharmaceutical care and service to the community. I am an individual of high integrity, determined, reliable and a team player with excellent communication skills. Working with NGOs, MoH, International organizations and partners to lead, manage, coordinate and implement health system strengthening activities at all levels has equipped me with the experience and skills to lead, manage and execute an effective and efficient supply chain management programme. Hoping for a positive response from you.
