Ethics And Legal Info High School

Standards: Students will gain an understanding of ethics and legal information regarding the

teaching profession.

Objectives: Students will be able to learn about what ethics and legal information are, and why

they are important in the teaching profession. Students will be able to name and identify

important vocabulary from chapter 7.1, and be able to understand why ethical and legal issues

are important in the teaching profession. The students will be able to identify how respect works

in a classroom.

Materials: The Teacher uses the board, and PowerPoint along with “Becoming A Teacher: 9th

Edition” by Forrest Parkay. Students will fill in key terms on a handout, and take a quiz at the

end of the chapter. Teacher will demonstrate how ethics apply in the classroom. The class will

watch a youtube video to reinforce their understanding of the application of ethics.

Procedures/Teaching Plan: Lesson Plan (45 min)

1:00PM-2:00PM 12/6/17

1:00PM: Intro

S-Students will be greeted, and will take seats. Attendance will be taken, and students will turn

in any prior homework assignments. T-Introduces the goal of understanding chapter 7.1, and

begins the lesson.

1:10PM Why are ethics important in the teaching profession?

T-Discuss chapter 7.1, and the reasons why ethics are important. Uses powerpoint presentation.

S-Break into units of 4 to discuss ethics, and fill out key terms from chapter 7.1. They identify

reasons why ethics are important with their peers. T-Goes through each group, and discusses

why ethics are important.

1:30PM Video

1:35PM Closure: T-Gives quiz on chapter 7.1.

1:40PM: Assessment: Reviews key terms, and checks students for retention. Summarizes the

importance of ethics.
