Last September 18, 2016, the Brain Teasers Club together with
its daughter clubs, namely, Mathematics Society and Math
Educators Circle conducted its annual Team Building and
Strategic
Planning for the new set of officers with the theme ‘’’’ at the
Nueva Villa Resort, Kalasungay, Malaybalay City. The
objective of the said event is to gain understanding about the
character of each individual and to observe teamwork and
cooperation as for the preparation of the upcoming activities
and events.
During the morning session, the resource speaker, Ms.
Nova Faith Agravante, emphasizes on her lecture the
importance of teamwork and cooperation and of course, to
know each individuals strength and weaknesses to be more
effective in dealing with others. There was also fun and
related activities which test on how we work as a team. That
was also a test on how we deal to achieve a certain goal with
patience and determine the best possible solution to achieve
that goal without further arguing. Sometimes we fail and
that will be a lesson for us to improve. After that talk was the
giving of certificate and token to the resource speaker by
Drexler J. Obiena with the Mathematics Department
Chairperson, Dr. Teresa L. Tacbobo and the BTC adviser, Ms.
Zeny L. Maureal.
On the afternoon session, the participants were divided
into groups and was given a specific activity and they need to
brainstorm about the objectives of an event and suggest
improvements to
obtain best results. At the end of the day, everyone was
enlightened and is ready to take full responsibility entrusted
to them.

Weekends are the days where we do things like worship God and wash our
clothes, but the Brain Teasers Club prefer to have an event. According to Oscar Wilde,
“an acquaintance that begins with a compliment is sure to develop into a real
friendship”. So, last October 1, 2016 (Saturday), the Brain Teasers Club together
with the faculty, had “A Night of Camaraderie and Induction Program”.
The said event was held at the conference hall, water pool hotel, Casisang,
Malaybalay City. The BTCians wear their best blue semi-formal attire as the theme of
the said event. The program started at exactly 4:00 pm having first the invocation
that was led by the newly elected President, Mr. Drexler Obiena. Then, followed by
the welcome address of Dr. Teresa L. Tacbobo, the chairperson, however Dr. Tacbobo
was not around that time, Ms. Zeny L. Maureal the BTC adviser took over. After that
Mr. Rey Carl Tiu, one of the faculties, introduced the guest speaker Ms. Rebysarah
Tambaoan.
She said that, “mathematics is the science of better”. That may be true, there is
no science existing now a days and new inventions like technologies if there is no
mathematics. Even though they said that most of the lessons of mathematics like X
and Y will not be applied in real life, yet we can use it in inventing machinery or even
solving problems in our society like traffic in the road. We can apply mathematics in
anything; it is just unnoticeable, where in fact mathematics is everything that
produces better living. She also appends that no one is perfect but there is perfect
which is what we called “the uniqueness of individual”. That was actually the last
phrase in her message that made the listeners realized, to not be insecure to anyone,
instead think of our uniqueness from each other and consider ourselves as perfect.
After her message, Zeny Maureal as well as Rey Carl Tiu gave the token and
certificate to the speaker as a proof of appreciation. The giving of the certificates to
the Math Educator Circle, BS Mathematics Society and Brain Teasers Club former and
officers were given.
The second part of the program was the Induction of the newly elected officers.
Brain Teasers Club Officers were inducted by Mrs. Lezel M. Tutanes, then for the Math
Educators Circle Officers were Ms. Cyrene Macasero, finally the BS Mathematics
Society were by Ms. Rebysarah Tambaoan. The bequeathal ceremony then followed,
this is to give the key of responsibility to the new president Mr. Drexler J. Obiena by
the outgoing president Mr. Jeffrey D. Abrogar. Lastly the BTC officers together with
their adviser perform their presentation. And it was followed by the presentation of
every year level; BSE and BS Math-major students.
