Divide by 2,000 to get exact farmer stock numbers. 2017/18 is Estimated, 2018/19 & 2019/20 are forecast
Production of peanuts is forecast at 5.48 billion pounds, (2,741,050 tons) down less than 1 percent from the revised 2018 total of 5.50
billion pounds (2,750,000 tons). Harvested area is expected to total 1.38 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast but up 1
percent from 2018. With domestic use predicted up 1.9% and exports estimated to be up 6.4%, the ending stocks are now estimated at
1,051,000 tons. Crush is also predicted up 5.7% due to aflatoxin increases from the harvested peanuts.
With the fall drought in the Southeast, the estimated AVERAGE yield could be lowered thus reducing ending stocks.
2018 CROP YEAR ARC AND PLC PROGRAMS - FSA began processing payments last week for 2018 ARC-County (ARC-CO) and
PLC on covered commodities that met payment triggers on enrolled farms in the 2018 crop year. In addition to the $1.5 billion now in
process, FSA anticipates it will issue another $1 billion in November once USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service publishes
additional commodity prices for the 2018 crop.
Producers who had 2018 covered commodities enrolled in ARC-CO can visit www.fsa.usda.gov/arc-plc for payment rates
applicable to their county and each covered commodity. For farms and covered commodities enrolled in 2018 PLC, the following crops
met payment triggers: barley, canola, corn, dry peas, grain sorghum, lentils, peanuts, and wheat. Oats and soybeans did not meet 2018
PLC payment triggers.
On peanuts– A final projected Effective price published in August was $430 per ton or $.2150 per pound. To determine
assistance, subtract the Market Year Average (MYA) from the Statutory Reference Price. For 2018, subtract $430 per ton from $535 per
ton (Reference Price) and the Projected or Final 2018 PLC Payment Rate is $105 per ton. This payment applies to 85% of the peanut
farm base. Average prices continue low for 2019 as August prices averaged only $405 per ton.
The peanut program paid farmers for 2017 peanut prices a total of $306,698,025 for Price Loss Coverage, all caused by low
prices. Farmers selecting ARC received $96,180. The general base acres in the U.S. total 1,066,045 acres and payments will be applied
to 85% of each farm base acres.

Sterling. "Of course, I'm going to participate so you'll get to see how I make peanuts part of my day." As part of the 30/30 Peanut
