My Design- workbook

1. Work in pairs to design a car made from recycled materials. You are designing a car
that will be in a race at the end of the project. Think carefully about how you will
make your car go the distance of the 5-metre racetrack. You will be presenting your
projects at the end of the unit.
2. You will be writing a scientific report based on your experiment.
3. Your project needs to have:
- A diagram of the vehicle showing with arrows and labels indicating the different
forces that are interacting with your car.
- Predictions, observations, why do you think this happened?
- A report that tells anyone who reads it, what you were hoping would happen, why
you chose the materials, how you made it, what would you change if you did it
again?

Part1:
1. Work in pairs and design your car.
2. Find materials and choose which materials you will use.
3. Record any questions you want to find out from your experiment.
4. Record your process.
5. Draw a labelled diagram of your car and the forces that are acting upon it.

Part 2:
1. Work in your same pairs and make your vehicle.
2. Test it out!
3. Make any changes.
4. Don’t forget to record what changes you make and what results you get 
5. Let race!

Part 3:
1. Time to write up your process.
2. Discuss with the teacher how you would like to present your experimental process
and your findings.
