High Availability to ensure resilience of the ASE platform with synchronous replication to enable zero data loss
(planned for SAP ASE 16 only)
The performance of a database depends on the configuration of the instance, the database design and the formulation of SQL
statements. The SQL Statement EXPLAIN helps customers to find answers to questions, such as Why is this query running
slow? The query optimizer attempts to calculate the most efficient way to execute an SQL query. The SQL Statement EXPLAIN
is the representation of this attempt. It can be visualized in the form of a text or a graph.
The DBA Planning Calendar has been enhanced with specific jobs to execute database backups, transaction log dumps, table
reorganizations and table statistics updates.
The ASE configuration check located under Configuration → SAP Configuration Check automatically validates the ASE
configuration. The tool checks whether the configuration corresponds to the settings required or recommended to run SAP on
ASE (see SAP Note 1539124).
Two new screens: Performance → I/O → Index I/O and Space → Tables and Indexes → Indexes. This allows historical
monitoring of index usage and space allocation.
The data collector Statement Cache has been enhanced with an option to also collect query plans. This allows to review and
compare not only currently cached query plans, but also query plans that were used by ASE in the past.
