    Global context for the May 2015

    MYP eAssessment on-screen examinations

    For the new MYP assessment model, each examination session will be shaped within a
    specific global context chosen from the list published in MYP: From principles into practice
    (May 2014). In each assessment session, the chosen global context informs all MYP on-
    screen examinations and ePortfolio tasks.
    The global context for the May 2015 MYP eAssessment session is:
    Fairness and development
    The description of this global context is:
    What are the consequences of our common humanity? Students will explore
    rights and responsibilities; the relationship between communities; sharing
    finite resources with other people and with other living things; access to equal
    opportunities; peace and conflict resolution
    The focus of exploration within this context is:
    Human capability and development; social entrepreneurs

    How will the global context be reflected in the 2015 assessments?


    On-screen examinations
    Each on-screen examination comprises two or three tasks, one task in each disciplinary on-
    screen examination is connected with, inspired by or derived from the chosen global context.
    The whole of the interdisciplinary learning on-screen examination is inspired by the chosen
    global context.
    The final question in the Language and literature assessment requires students to write about
    a text they have studied in the class room in relation to the global context focus. It is
    recommended that teachers cover at least two texts relating to the global context focus with
    this in mind (texts can be literary or non-literary and take different forms, such as written
    extracts, films etc). Students need to state the title, author, publication date and source of the
    text they are writing about at the start of their response.
    ePortfolio submissions
    There is no pilot moderation session for ePortfolio subjects in May 2015. However, trial MYP
    unit plans for Language acquisition, Arts, Design and Physical and health education are
    published on the OCC. These example ePortfolio unit plans were also developed with
    reference to the chosen global context for May 2015.
    Use of these plans for 2015 moderation sessions is entirely optional. They provide
    additional guidance for moderating schools, and they offer all MYP schools a resource for
    teaching and learning that models good practice in MYP unit planning.
