Oral production activity unit 10


Topic: Style and fashion

Dear Student,

In unit 10 you will make a video about style and fashion.

Here are the steps to complete the assignment.


Step 1:
Do exercises from Practice Resources - Unit 10 on Blackboard.

Step 2:
Imagine you are a fashion blogger and want to share fashion tips with your followers on the
social networks.

Step 3:
Think about your answers to these questions:
a. Which are your favorite clothing stores? What do you like about them?
b. Which are your favorite clothing brands? Why do you like them? Are they expensive?
c. What is your style? Which are your favorite clothing items? What do you like wearing at
home/at university/at work?
d. Which are your favorite colors? Which colors do you never wear?
e. Do you think it is important to wear fashionable clothes? Why/Why not?
f. Which main fashion tip can you share with your followers?

Get some photos or clothing items to illustrate your video.

Step 4:
Prepare the script for your video. Include the answers to the questions in Step 3.

Step 5:
Record yourself on a video telling us about style and fashion, including the information you
organized in Step 3.
Show photos or clothing items to illustrate your video.

Here are some things to keep in mind while recording your video:

 Speak as clearly as possible.


 Smile.
 Be in a well-lit area.
 Be confident.
 Look at the camera when you speak.
 Don’t just read.

Some guidelines to make your video:

 Use vocabulary and grammar structures studied in Unit 10:


 passive voice
 vocabulary about fashion fads
 Your video should last about 1 minute or 1 minute and a half (1’-1’30).

 Use youtube.com to make the video. Test your video works well before sending the link.
Change video privacy setting to “Public” so your teacher can view it.
 You can also use any other software to make your video.
 You have to paste the link of your video and the script (the script is referential) in the
Assignment section (Actividad in Unit 10) on Blackboard.
 Use the template below (See page 3).

Assessment criteria:

 pronunciation and intonation


 fluency
 accuracy
 task achievement (clarity and use of webcam)
